The Boss Returns
This is the engine that will most likely see duty in a modern Stang dubbed a Boss. This engine has been around for quite some time. The original rumor was for a 2004 Boss 302 to follow up the 2003 Mach I.
This is the new Boss 302 block that is causing the stirs. It is very obviously an OHV engine block for us classic guys that run Windsors and not Modulars (they don't fit between classic shock towers).

Ok...let's think about this a little more. Ford has a NEW engine developed called the Hurricane project. And they developed....what? An engine that already exists (5.0 cammer)? A FRP 302 race block (been available now for years)?
Think aboot it.

It's all about marketing fellas. Since Ford Racing is so gung ho about getting the Boss name back in the game.......I guess a new Boss mustang is now inevitable. Only question is will they bring it out on the S197 platform before or after the redesign in 2010.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. i love that blue
BUT, if theyre gonna do a Boss version, they need to bring back a pushrod engine. plain and simple. i vote 5.8, n/a. and from factory, choice of compression. thats what i think. that way, you can choose high compression to stay n/a, or choose low compression and go aftermarket fi. but then, theyd all be custom made and custom pistons per car and what not. so, i vote, 5.8. n/a. 10:1 cr. done. id say AT LEAST 390hp from factory, if possible.....(which im sure its very possible if Ford builds it)
