Default smashed another 96' Z28...

Earlier today me and by buddy were driving around town. we were driving up a long street with low traffic. we pull up to a light sure enough a camaro Z28 pulls up next to us and revs his engine.I look around for police, check my mirrors, I was set. my friend rolls down his window and asks the camaro guy what year his camaro was. He said 96' with full exhaust, I fugired I could easily take a LT1.the guy had no people in his car. I had my friend, so already I was at a small diasdvantage. we get ready, the light turns green, I had my car reved at around 2300 when I launched,I did a small small chirp, no wheel spin. right off the bat I hear him spinning his tires, I had a car lenght on him from the get go. I keep pulling, till I hit 3, then I see him start creeping slowly, but when I hit 4th he couldnt pull on me anymore and by the time I shift into 5th I was around 115mph, and then I shut down. I'd say I had 4-5 cars on him, when we finished the race.He pulls up to me again and gives me the thumbs up.
I was a pretty good race, no miss shift or anything.

Sounds like you outdrove the hell out of him. He should have killed you. Unless the more mods that you didn't mention are heads, cam, intake, maybe a lil spray...

Definitely some great driving. And the best part is that he was cool about getting beat. Shows mutual respect. So what other mods do you have?

I had 285/60/15 slicks in the back, they help so much, trust me they do. If I took it to the track I could say how many tenths they take off, I would estimate around 1 sec off your 1/4 mile times, I have ported heads/intake, and new lower intake i believe its a cobra lower.I also have 65mm TB/egr and 70 MM MAF, I have more small mod like 180 therm, elec. fans, other small stuff.

You know something i have seen alot lately at the track. I see alot of LS1s running mostly high 13s. Seen 2 WS6 run 13.8 and a 14.0.. MPH was there for them but not the E.Ts.. Total of 6 i have recorded on video. I know they can run Low 13s and even 12s. They must be awful drivers. I havent seen many LT1s. though.

M6 drivers...and terrible ones. Go auto and a shift kit/programmer. Easiest way to go fast.

The weather may have a lot to do with those slow LS1's, though the trap speeds would also suck if that was the case. I ran last month on one of the worst days, high 90's and humid. The anouncer even warned the spectators that they were about to see the worst times of the year. I ran between 13.75 and 13.99 @ 103; last April I ran 13.38. My g/f ran 13.9-14.1 in her '01 Z28; in April she went 13.36. Stock LS1's usually run low to mid 13's, but heat and humidity can add 4 tenths.

Or maybe they're just crappy M6 drivers.[sm=smiley36.gif]

With a lid I have gone 13.38 @ 105 and I have the 2.73 gears; he has 3.23 gears but the obsolete intake manifold that was replaced in '01. If you have gone 13.4 than it should be a good race, keep us posted.
