But the Viper out-braked and out-slalomed the Z06 which was a surprise to me. Overall driveability comfort, etc. The Shelby placed 2nd in true magazine style.[8D]

Didnt the '03 '04 cobras run around 12.9 stock? The GT500's have nearly 100hp more and only run two tenths of a sec. faster? how is this?

the real reason you cant trust magazine numbers is the fact that the tests are standardized... all get like 2k dump n go no powershifts (which is ok) but the viper is a faster car.. they launch it right.. just like the mustang and corvette also..

1. GT500 is a pig. It's way too heavy considering the application.
2. The 03-04 Cobras were underrated. Which offsets the 100hp advantge that the GT500 is supposed to have
3. The 03-04 Cobras were built with a purpose, a goal if you will. (Terminate the LS1) The GT500 is just another nice looking car with out any motivation. It cant beat a C6 or a C5 Z06.
I wouldn't pay one dollar over msrp for this car. After you get over the 500hp motor, you'll be wondering why in the hell did you get it in the first place. I'd rather go with a Saleen E.

The terminators stock dyno around 370-385... the Shelby does it in the low 400's... normally 420-430... so thats a 50rwhp difference or so, with an extra 3-400lbs... that's why. Everyone here knows, that I have issues with the Shelby, and my car responds to mods like no other.. but damn those shelbys get a wake up call with just a tune and intake... I don't know what Ford is really thinking honestly.... In the end the sadder thing is that Ford will be producing more Shelbys on avg per year then they did Terminators [:@] - looks like these "collectors" won't have themselves to rare of a car... less SVT models avg per year then Shelbys, and the SVT's were out for 10 years!
But back to topic: The Shelby is a solid car, but stock - it's just not competition for the z06 or the Viper... It's a pulley, tune and suspension short... add those - then it's a whole another ballgame... but you "run what ya brung" -
