Smoked a STI
Every story is different, where u guys racing off a roll? I can tell you right now unless u got some drag radials or slicks, the sti or evo will out launch the mustang and jump by a good car length off the line, that's if the sti/evo owner is willing to launch their car. AWD works different and those owners tend to not launch them since they're prone to break off the line, but if you ever do find one who is willing to launch those cars off the line, beware, becaise then it's a totally different story.
I know this by experience since i race my friends evo all the time, and he launches the hell out of it. I agree with all u guys that mustang is a good bang for buck car, but STI/EVO owners that i hang out with don't really buy their car for the straight, but for curves. I dunno if you ever go to other forums, but If I was to post that a mustang gt with a supercharger beat a stock STI by 2 cars, they will be bashing on how whack that is, since our muscle is suppose to perform well at quarter mile. And trust me, STI/EVO's respond well to mods. Don't get me wrong, nothing beats the American Muscle sound, but these are just facts. And as far as quarter mile, in the magazine, the mustang gt does 13.5, Evo does 13.5, and the STI is at low 13's, assuming these are pro drivers. I have to find the magazine to see exactly what the STi runs at.

the 2006 STi's are ridiculous i've heard people dip into the high 12's bone stock. C&D lists the 1/4 at 13.0...
What's up the the 1/4 mile obsession? There is a hell of a lot more to sports car performance than how fast you can accelerate. Sure, the Mustang is made for it and does well in the 1/4 (sounds awesome doing it too), but I would be more impressed if you had beaten him around an autocross course or something. You should split it so you both get your strengths - time in the 1/4 mile and then race again around an autox course of some type - lowest combined time wins!

I wouldn't even waste the gas on an STI. Much more fun to go after a Z06, Viper, turbo Mecerdes, etc.. The look on their face when a Mustang walks them is PRICELESS!!

Sorry to tell you this there are no 4 sec 1/4 cars running 4 cyc..................The worlds fastest 1/4 mile cars are modified 8's (get use to it) And the worlds fastest prodcution cars are also 8's.
