Default 2008 Viper

Dodge has finally revealed their new Viper. It will boast a 8.4L engine with 600HP and 560 FT LBS of torque. They also made several improvment to the overall feel of thecar. McClaren was used to help with the enginedesign. But if that is not scary enough,Mopar and SRT have delvoped a new performance package for this beast that will have it pushing 675HP and 650 FTLBS of torque. All thisfrom the dealer. The pictures are in the link...."know thy enemy"

Although it's a huge motor at over 500ci,675hp is very impressive for a N/A motor.I think you're gonna need some more parts Rog!!!

That Viper is beyond regular bolt on capabilities. I'm gonna haveto get a supercharger tokeep up. Then the Viper guys will get Turbo charged and gokill Bugatti's.

Nah, i dont think so. Ive never been impressed with Vipers, even the Hennessey Vipers. Dont get me wrong, i like them and would own over a good deal of vehicles if money wasnt really a problem, but 500hp out of 8.3L? 500hp out of 7.0L sounds better, and 550hp to the ground out of 5.4L sounds even better than that. These are heavy, inefficient motors IMO. But this thing is gonna be a killing machine.

and they boast about it being faster than the new Z06.... thing is, I don't think this viper is going to cost 60-70K

on top of that the projected cost for the TT SS is a supposed 100K even to keep up with top of the line exotics.... and I hate to say it, I don't even think this viper is going to settle for 125K by the looks of it

Not a fan of the looks. Dont like the two tone, dont like the hood and dont like the spoiler. 675 Hp...Well in 2000 the Hennessy Viper made 800 and it ran a 10.7. Which is what a stock/very lightly modded Z06 runs now. I guess iv never really liked the vipers. The guys on that page seem to think its gonna be the best thing since sliced bread, but ill bet the SS Vette kills that thing in every catagory for about 20k$ less.

Damn that **** looks tight!

I still can't see it beating the new Blue Devil though. Maybe... MAYBE it will edge it out in acceleration, but there is no way a Viper from the factory is going to outhandle a Z06. Overall, I bet the newer Z06 will be much more fun to drive. A big motor like that comes with a big weight penalty as well, I too would rather see a b00sted LS7.
