I have a VERY hard time believing any 05+ GT would dyno at 229rwhp stock. That sounds rediculously low. That's about a 25% loss, there's no way. I agree with you. An 05+ GT "should" dyno roughly 260hp. I don't like sticking to strict math formulas to determine EXACTLY what a car should dyno, but again...I agree with your numbers.
On average drivetrain loss is about 15%. for solid axle vehicles. 15% of 300 is 45. Which would give you about 260 to the wheels. Granted there are some that might have 310 to the crank.but 325Hp is far fetched.
e-convincing is a lost cause so I willsayI'm done with this topic.

I always figure roughly 15% loss and assume that not every car will be stuck to that rule. I figure 15% and +/- 10rwhp. That usually covers it. But 229rwhp...come on...
That is one sick S197. It's an auto (more drivetrain loss), maybe the car was dyno'd on the summit of Mt. Everest...lol. The owner of the GT must have sh*t a brick when he seen that result.. Can anyone say "1999 Cobra".....LOL
The rule of thumb I've been told for drivetrail loss with modern transmissions isroughly 15% for autos and 12% for manuals. That would mean that a 6-speed LS1 F-body putting down 300 at the wheels or an auto putting down 290are making about 341 at the crank, which sounds about right.
Keep in mind that not all dynosare calibratedthe same. You could put down 290 on one and 320 on another, no changes to the car.
It's like if a meterwas a different length from one country to another. Very confusing.

people on other forums claims that they had seen some facotry freak stangs put down 280rwhp bone stock.. and one of mybuddy on ls1.com says that in front of him they dynoed a 01 firehawk and it put down 335rwhp..[:-]freaks are acceptable but to call 05+ stangs 229rwhp and 260+rwhp ones are ffreak is jut funny
i really don't care what i put dowm.. either 280rwhp or 229rwhp.. i ran countless times 13.6 and best of 13.4 bone stock.. i am still stock.. i bought straight pipes for sound and pro 5.0 shifter (i shift better with stock shifter but prolly will get used to this one) so basicly we can say i still have stock power and i will run 13.4 again if not faster this way. thats all matters right
