roll races
how long have you been driving your car, that you cannot feel where the ideal launch point is from a roll?
you want to get it at a point in, say second gear, that when you hammer it down youre going to have it kick back into 1st gear. if youre going too fast for it to kick down to first, its going to take the time for the rpm's to climb into the peak power range, which would take less time if you were going a little slower, thus allowing it to drop back into first..this is true for all gears.
i was in indy with my bmw a few years back on the highway that leads into the city, and it was like the fast and the furious..ricers rolling up on me, flashing their underbody neons in what MUST have been stock economy cars, because the bmw was only good for 15s, and it walked away from at least two cars.
