it will be close or you will lose. depends on yours and his driving skills from a dig. 96 GT with a heavy tranny that sucks up more power than a manual is whats going to hurt you. If you did the PI sway, i would say that you had the win definitely but you don't. Just have to race and see how it goes. Also 94-97 HP was 215 and 98 it increased to 225 for the GT's.

 

Your gonna get pulled on pretty good. A Type S with those mods can hit low 14's@ around 97-99 mph with a good driver.

 

Ifthats true then those thing respond better to mods that just about anything!!!!!! Iguaranteemy Cobra won't pick up half a second and 5 or 6 mph in the 1/4 with just those mods.I'm not calling BS,I'm just a little sceptical.

 

Im starting to think something happened between 97-98 to gt's because I see 98's running a hell of a lot better than the previous....any clue??

Also I say get drag radials and use the rwd to your advantage.

 

Dont be skeptical, its true. One of my friends had an 02 RSX-S, which 02 are the first years and arent the fastest by any means, the 05's had 10 more hp, and the 06's have the same, but with the new SAE rating the lowered it back down to 200. Anyways, my friend put exhaust, header, intake, and lowered his car (which does basically nothing when lowered), but he was running with and beating 99-04 GT's all the time, manual and auto.

 

I would say driver's race/close call w/ the advantage to the RSX. I ran a lightely modded one and beat it by about 2.5ish cars. I am however, more modded than you. It will all be in how you can launch and how good a driver he is. Good luck.

 

Of course he isn't pushing 230 rwhp...I can tell you exactly how much he's making...0.

And RSX's resond very well to mods, Toda makes an engine kit that adds 60 fwhp, and on an engine making 100 horsies a liter anyways...that;s kind of a big deal.
