Default tire pressure

I have 18x10 rims with 295/35 BFG KDW2's and would like to know what psi I should run in them at the strip.....I run about 31-33 on a regular basis for road racing.

Anything other than the reccommended pressure will reduce the contact patch. I have experimented with this myself at the strip. Increased traction will only be found with drag tires.

I lowered the pressure last time to like 24 psi and after 2 runs ran a 14.137 1/4 mile time.......so if I keep the 31-34 psi I could do better?

You will probably get a better 60 ft time. When street tires are that underinflated they "cup," so that only the outside edges are making contact with the ground. Just run them at 34 psi like normal. That's where I've found the best traction (or less spin, I should say).

+1 I've done a lot of experimenting myself with street tires at the track. They do best at the psi recomended for the tire.

some people think that by droping the pressure in street tires you get better traction at the strip, ihave tried this and my 60 fts went in the tank.....keep it at the street pressure....i could cut some 2.0 60's with street tires when left at street pressure....the way to go is get a set of nitto 555 dr's Bfg's or mickeys (listed least to most sticky in my experience)

The best I got with street tires at 32 psi was 1.94 60 ft. I let the pressure down to 20 and went to 2.20 60 fts. Drag radials are awesome. I have cut 1.71 60s on a set of M/Ts.

So much is made of dropping rear psi tire pressure at the track. What's extremely underestimated is over inflatting the front tires.Less drag and better trap speeds.

Makes sence. I'll have to try that.
