even if it is a 350 and has stock heads, at best 882's, at worst, much much worse it has the crappy 350 smog head from the late 70's. He might have 8.5:1 compression, no flow and a cam that small it would be lucky to make 300hp let alone 350. I would figure more around 180-210 rwhp figure on the low side. It might feel fast to him, but there isnt enough there to warrant 350hp, you know 1hp per ci, takes a bit more to get that from an old chevy. The kid in the Camaro is dreaming and talkin crap when he hasnt a clue. If its a 305 then figure much less power.

The LS1 isnt so much chevy anymore, it has quite a bit from Olds, Buick and Pontiac in it. Its not a pure chevy design even if it doesn come in a Chevy. Chevy really sucks.

How do you ya figure. While I agree there is no way this camaro is making 350 horsepower (even flywheel), or that he is making enough to beat one, it wouldnt take a supercharger on an LX to beat one with that much.

I have yet to see a fast Iroc. And even a newer f-body with 350 hp could be beat by an lx with the right mods and no blower.

With a few grand in suspension work I have seen LXs pushing just over 3000 LBs!

 

10.5 cr with iron heads? Better be running on pump gas, if not then the massively retarded timing would be a reason you smoked him so badly. Either way you have a nice Fox there, all you need is a bit more power, some better wheels, and a whole sleeper attitude. Its fun smokin chevy's.

 

The LS1 was an almost completely new design when it was developed for the Chevy Corvette in '97. Later when it was put in the fbody Mustang owners became very sad. Ford was left behind until the addition of forced induction in '03, after the fbody was retired. Low to mid 13's bone stock (sometimes 12.9[:-]) starting at around the price of a Stang GT does not suck. Not trying to bash the Stang at all, just calling it as I see it.

If you were a 3rdgen enthusiest, you would understand that 90% of 3rdgen owners have modded 305's & push them off as 350's. The blocks, the heads, the entire engine looks 100% identical to a 350. The only way to tell is to run numbers and not very many people will take the time to do so. Mysterious laid it out pretty good about the possibility it is a late 70's 350 that's absolutely worthless.
