one of the guy i work with have 06 eclipse GT silver stock. and i raced him many many times when we used to get off the work at 11.pm everyday and i would put like bus on him everytime. i woul give him a couple car lengths and then punch and i would catch him and pass him easily. his is auto though.. my GT was 5 speed.

they are fast cars but compare to a new GT, new GT will put a good 10 cars (maybe less , maybe more) on a stock eclipse GT. but most people can't drive them..

by the way, welcome.

meh, only eclipse's worth getting would prolly be a 1st or 2nd gen turbo model.
you might want to give a little more effort in your research of mitsubishi's engines.... this 4th gen 3.8 is by far the best motor mitsu has to boast about

not only do these engines scream "mod me" they also have the torque where the previous platforms fell flat

I wouldn't really say that yet, they're still using the 4g63's from the 1st/2nd gens on the EVO. Granted, there have been a couple new improvements, but it's still the same platform. I would like to see one of the new one boosted though.

06 Eclipse GT (263hp/260trq) curb weight 3472 lbs
06 Mustang GT (300hp/320trq) curb weight 3483 lbs

Either your mods give u lots of extra power........or you found some sucky GT drivers.

Yes, but what about drivetrain loss? They should both put down similar hp numbers to the ground (with the edge to the stang, of course)

Umm....comparing manual cars to manual cars here. I've seen most manual 3V GT's dyno between 260 and 275rwhp. Not sure how you figure a car making 363bhp is gonna put down those numbers. Drivetrain loss on the Eclipse isn't THAT small, I can tell you that much. Then there's the 60lbft torque deficiency.....and the fact that both cars weigh almost the same......

Hey, I'm no fan of paper racing.........but I don't see these cars being very equally matched in stock form by any stretch.

They're not. Comparing a 4th gen Eclipse to a S197 is like New Edge vs. S197...except the New Edges are faster than the Eclipse(slightly).

A New Edge can beat a S197 but that is one hell of a bad driver in the S197.

i also disagree....the early 6g72s were good motors when built correctly...and the 4g63T still owns the NA cyclones.

and while its impressive that it runs in the high 13s with so little done, you found yourself some VERY bad GT drivers.
