Tonight i raced an s197 from 50 mph, i dropped it down to 4th gear and hit it and went past him, i had him until 110 and than he passed me like no other :-( i have an 89gt vert 5speed with stock 3.07 gears and flows,and bumped timing.

By the way, you have 3.08 gears, not 3.07's, and next time, try dropping to the right gear and letting the other guy know you're racing...

Sounds like the S197 waited before jumping on it, if you "dropped it" to 4th at 50 (not as bad as flooring it in 5th, but not a smart choice)and nailed it a Chevy Cavalier could have caught up with you until you got on the cam. A S197 stick or autoat 50 can drop it to 2nd gear, he would have torn you such a new rear from the get go it wouldn't have been funny.
By the way, you have 3.08 gears, not 3.07's, and next time, try dropping to the right gear and letting the other guy know you're racing...

geez sorry, i should know i do have the whole vin number, im just so concerned with 3.73's..my brother has an 07 gt and I have driven it multiple times, with trac control off it doesnt feel that much faster than the 5.0and he knew we were racing, he did the 3 beeps and what do you mean by ricer tactics? if you think dropping it down a gear is being rice than i guess most people that race from a roll are rice...

so your pretty much stock and you think that a 07 gt doesn't seem much faster? your 225 hp stock, though 300 tq which still great almost 20years later. But with your gearing and Hp I am surprised you didnt get walked since your pretty much stock.
I remember racing a a 91 GT and from 0-110 I put so many cars on him and can't even remember how many. Thats when I was stock, with 20" rated at 330 crank hp.........

I didn't say dropping it down a gear is rice, I'm telling you that dropping into 4th gear at 50 is asking to lose a race. Doing a drive by is rice however. Now you say he did 3 beeps, either you raced a guy who has a worse idea of how to race than you do or dude you just ain't telling the truth.
I love Fox Mustang's, a lot, they have potential big time, but a close to stocker at 50mph punching it in 4th gear, not much happens..

I have owned 8 Fox 5.0's and now own 2 S197 GT's. If a Fox with your set up ever took me or heck my wife in her auto GTon dropping into 4th gear at 50 andwewere stockwe would tear that Fox a new ****, a S197 with a CAI and tune would just make that whoopin even worse. I'm not bashing you or calling you a liar, but if this did happen I would say the s197 was sitting in 5th the entire time. I agree that the 05+ GT doesnt "feel" as fast as it really is. I would assume that is because they are much MUCH more refined, better driving, more comfortable, better supported and not nearly as bare and raw as a fox body. I wouldn't think about winning against one myself, I'd get my *** handed to me[8D]
