it depends on the evo. they make like 10 kinds of each model each with different hp and tunning and crap.

 

true, but there really isnt a "slow" evo...even the slowest units sold in the US should be in the mid to high 13s if the person can drive. i can only imagine how people would cry if the FQs were available here...

 

The one I raced back in 2005 now has a few common modifications; last year it ran 12.5.

 

one of the quicker stock-ISH evos that ive seen in person was an evo 9. the guy had better tires, turbo-back exhaust, and a boost controller..and he was running in the mid 12s...but he was pulling great short times...which seems to be the key with them...

 

Anything can happen of course but if both drivers are capable, the Evo will lose from a dig. Stock, the Evo traps between 102 -104 depending on the driver. The LS1 will eventually catch up as the Evostarts to lose top end thanks to it's AWD.

At a track, I agree with you that the Evo has a chance to win only because the 1/4 might not be long enough for the LS1 to catch up.

Your kidding right? A stock Evo doesn't have big ***** up top. Watch this video below: It will give you an idea of an Evo getting out of the hole quick. Nevermind the trap speed or time as I'mmodded. Just wanted to show the launch. I pulled a 1.71 60' on this run on street tires. Stock Evo's can do this too with a good driver. (Just the first 23 seconds) Vid also posted in a separate thread.

Yes! I only wish I could drive like him. His 60's are nothing short of amazing not to mention his overall driving skills! I suck compared to him!
