he runs at PRP, which was my home track for years...i was used to seeing his talon, and a friend of mine has a low 11 second demon. i didnt think much of it when he said "there is some 4 door with a big wing on it staged with me...im going to teach him a lesson about drag racing"..i hadnt realized that the car in question was an evo, and i hadnt realized that it was curt browns evo. i had not seen him run it before, or had not paid attention that it was him, and while my bussy in the demon did beat brown, he had to run a high 10 to beat browns impressive 11.1X...the car didnt appear to have much done, especially with the hood closed.

not sure if the evos are turboed but if they are there nothing special about a 4cly turbo running 13's most v8s run that with very little mods at most. but if there not turboed then i can understand.

You really should take a second and do a search on a stock Evo 9. With a "good" driver, these cars are running low 13's stock (no mods). Several have run high 12's with a "Great" driver and no mods. For this particular thread though, I said the Ls1 should win either way (dig/roll) because the Evo doesn't have a strong top end due to it's awd, but if they ran at the track, the Evo would have a chance due to it's launch capabilities.

Wow. I would love to have seen him run in person. I've only seen what he does on video. The thing that always sticks out are his low 60's and shifting. If I'm not mistaken, he holds a few records with the Evo. I think one of them is the fastest time on a stock turbo. I'll have to go back and research first to be sure.

i think that is his claim to fame..the fastest stock turbo evo...but i dont know if he was running a 2.0 or 2.3...i only know him from the track, and from a few nopi events..i havent seen him or his car for a year or so now.

it'll be a good race. i drove a friends stock 2002 WS6 and wasn't impressed, though my 95 Mustanghad a crap load of mods done to it. I told her it needed some gears in the rear and it would be alot better. i think it will be an interesting race for sure.

I thought my LS1 felt like crap stock too...then it went out and ran 8.7x's with a lid and stock everything else, even on stock rubber. I then had a buddy go out and run 8.4x's with this stock M6 car, only he had DR's on it. His car also felt dog *** slow. I think it's cause they start pulling hard down low, then they don't stop pulling, so it's a false feeling....but idk.

I raced a buddy in his '06 Evo when I only had a lid. I had traction issues through 40 mph, and he left me off the line. I pulled on him and passed him pretty quick though.

Stock for stock, from a stop, Evo wins off the line, loses down the road. From a roll, WS6 wins all around. LS1 makes a lot more torque and gobs of power in the upper powerband. It would take a bad WS6 driverto lose to a good Evo driver.

Stock Evos typically run mid to high 13s, and require mods to get into low 13s. WS6s run mid to low 13s, even high 12s stock.
