I stand corrected
NO way no how will stock non drag radials cut a 1.6, not in a 3200+ lb car with a new GT's hp. Happy clocks or he was talkin out his ****. 1.6's are the territory of slicks and a much better power to weight. As far as the 13.3, well I have seen wierd stuff too so I'll give him that. There is a huge variance in the new cars, some run mid to high 14's others are reported to run 13's. Whatever works, ya know?
A good driver who can power shift and ain't afraid to do so can get the best times out of just about any car at the strip. and icing the intake works too provided you can get to the line without running the car too much getting there. I've seen guys at my track sitting in the staging lanes with ice on their intakes and pushing the car through the lanes until they get to the front of the line before they ever start the engine too. and some of the car mag guys who rent the tracks they test on can sit just behind the burnout box with ice on the intake which definitely cuts down the time the engine runs with a cold intake before they leave the line too and this gives them the best ET numbers too.
on that 813 mph run with 13.6 on the e.t., I bet the last 330 was HELL!! What a cool slip that must be!!
The physics of a quarter mile run are interesting. At the risk of looking like telling y'all I just saw Bigfoot walk out of Loch Ness with little green men around him, I have personally seen my brother's 68 Ford truck consistently pulll 1.61-1.66's out of the hole and run mid 14's at 95 mph. Seen it. Don't care if you believe it. So he gets out on the top end, say from 75-95, last 660 and he has the coefficient of drag profile thingy of a pregnant hippo, and the low 13, high 12 cars blow around him at 990 with 110-115 in the traps.
I think his claim of stockness with the e.t. is potentially legit as is the trap. I've driven an 05 GT and it was beastly. In the hands of a very good driver, a lot is possible with that car. Since you didn't see the slip, I seriously call into question the 60'. That's just too strong to end up with that e.t. and trap with the wind profile he has on the top end. BUT, if he's a goooooooooooooood driver, you never know. Seems way too good for the final numbers, though. And I NEVER believe a word I hear about mods at the track. I think the driver's joshin' ya either about mods (less likely) or the 60 (more likely)
