ummm.... those times arent with stock tires right? I havent seen a STOCK Z06 in the 10s without slicks.... plus they have the Shelby GT500 on there at only a 12.8... I thought road and track ran a 12.5? Hell, throw slicks on the shelby, or any of the other cars and see what you get then.

not to mention that most supercars aren't geared for the 1/4.... you won't see that cuda going 220 mph.

you guys are all smoking some serious crack if you think the cuda acutally ran a 10 second 1/4 mile anywhere close to stock.

Its not even an 11 second car stock, let alone a 10 second one.

Just take this as golden truth: All internet 1/4 mile time websites are completely and totally full of ****.

The C6 Z06 did not have stock tires, it ran that time on drag radials, everything else was stock.

2000GT4.6- although somepeopleon this forum may be smoking crack thePlymoth Cuda and DodgeDart did run a 10.5straight from the dealer floor. It did not have the regular 426 Hemi, but a "race" version. The 500hp was grossely underrated.

right, because if it's modified directly at the dealer, then it means that it's a stock production car

i rarely dont agree with you or 98ls1, but im afraid that in this case, you are bothmistaken in this case. the 68 S/S Cuda's and dartsdid indeed run in the 10s, and there were guys back then who bought one of the ultra rare hemi SS cars, did some minor tuning, and some light suspension work, and ran in the high 9s. the guy who sponsors me is a long time mopar racer/builder, and he still has one of the original hemi super stock cars. the SS cars came with no heater, no AC, no power anything, aluminum panels, no back seat, etc...they didnt come with ANY items that werent needed to make the car go fast in a straight line. were they practical? not at all, but were they capable of stock 10s, yes...they also had a great deal more stock HP than did the other stock hemi cars. they were all factory production drag cars, and werent eligible to be registered for street use in some states.

at the mopar events, there is a hemi super stock class, and the most strict of those classes requires that they are as they came from the factory...i think that there were only ahundred of the hemi SS cars made (50 darts/50 cudas)...but im not sure of an exact number...one of them sold at the mopar nationals a few years back for something like 900,000 dollars.

they were not dealer modified...they came ready to race. many dealers didnt want to deal with them because of the high cost and the possible hassle behind the logic of selling a non-street legal car.

ehhh, i guess i stand corrected, i won't argue mopars with Pat ....but it still looks like they were 'available with mods from the factory' instead of being an actual production car.

You didn't disagree with us...you simply told the obvious. Someone took a stock car and highly modified it, just like a Saleen or a Lingenfelter. Are they the run of a mill production car....no. Might as well included the 9 second LPE Vipers, or the 9 second LPE Vettes in that comparison.

chrysler corp made no bones about the car not being illegal for street use. their goal was to make a monster for the super stock class, and that was exactly what they did. you bought it from a dealership, just because that is part of the "super stock" designation. the cars were VERY VERY expensive...by todays terms, it may have been like buying a viper.

i seem to recall that they came with very lightweight hood and trunk lids, aluminum fenders and bumpers, no interior padding, etc. most of them were bought up by NHRA drivers such as ronnie sox, ray barton, bob Reed, etc...and many of those who were lucky enough to buy and race one back then, still race them as exhibition runs at the mopar nationals and such.

and these were not "modified" as the LPE cars are...it was a package that you could order in 1968. the car came from the factory like that. if anything, it is more like saleen, except they were sold by the dealerships, where you can get a saleen model from saleen (i think? i dont know much about how you buy a new saleen). these would have been similar to the COPO cars.
