Correct me if I am wrong but a well driven 3000GT is still a high 13 second car with decent mph in the 1/4... More than enough to keep with all but the best drive S197 GT.... and for way less than it takes to get a mustang into the high 12s a VR4 can be sticking low 12s (I believe its less than a grand)...
He may have been fast but he was stupid!

That Pantera is badass... got any more pics?

Nice "race" ha ha. I bet it was a good feeling to see that guy get pulled over. Good thing for you that you were able to restrain yourself.
Thanks, I’ve got lots of them http://www.panteraplace.com/

If the 3000GThad "hard wheel-spin"on takeoff, and then chirped on the 1-2 shift, IHIGHLY doubt it was a VR-4. In which case, it was prob a200 somethin' hp base model, w/ a driver who had ricer syndrome. Some people automatically think those cars are fast just because they're 300GT's......

Sad to say NO!! I actually owned a 3000GT NON VR4. It was very heavy, Front Wheel drive and I think Crank Hp for a base model was 165 and the SL was 210 and 320 for the VR4. VR4 is good for low to mid 13's. SL was mid to high 14's and of course the Base model was slower. Needless to say Mitsubuishi droped the ball on the 3000 GT mine a 1999 last year they were made. Over priced. Not to bad on looks but all show no go.

Sorry I meant VR4 period. I never even consider the base/v6 cars in these scenarios...

Yeah the Best of the VR4's is a mid-low 13 Second car Stock. The Ealier VR4 is a High 13's Car

The stock 71 cars were 0 – 60 in 5.5 seconds, 14 in the quarter and topped out at 160 at 6200 RPM. Most of the slow acceleration was due to wheel spin because of the poor tires used back then. The typical Pantera, today would be 0 – 60 around 4.5 seconds and mid 12s in the quarter. Top speed nowadays is up to the driver and there are a number at Bonneville running well over 200 MPH. They are beautiful machines and the power and performance is very seductive.
