Actually.. yeah. Its a cam switching setup. Theres basically 2 different cam settings.Per every 2 set of valves there are 2 smaller cam lobes for out of vtec & then one big very aggressive cam lobe for VTEC. Here is a pic inside an B16A head Notice the much larger center vtec lobe compared to the smaller lobes beside it.

No offense VTEC guys, VTEC looks good in Honda's not in our cars.
(I do have a new found respect for VTEC though, i got smoked by a '99 Honda Integra Type R with a performance tune)
