Default ordered some mickeys today

This may belong in suspension, but all ormost people running DRs hang out here so here goes.
Round two at the track last night, and although it was only maybe 10 to 15 degrees cooler (nighttime), I was expecting a big improvement what with the sun down and track temp down, heat index down etc. Well I did pick up 1.36 mph over my last outing, but couldn't top a 2.00x short time and my et was the same as previous. Needless to say I was pissed. I figured I'd dump the nittos and go with a mickey drag radial, since some say nittos are weak (although some say they are fine with good driving)...but I figured since nobody ever bags on mickeys, I'll mount em up and narrow the weak point of the car down to one thing...my driving lol...hell I was chirping second and third after heating up the nittos and running 15psi and my car has 300rwhp if it's lucky...oh well at least it wasn't wheel hopping so the steeda ca's are doing their job...

mods: UDPs, CAI/Xcal, o/r X, flo a/b, DRs, 4.10s, rear u/l ca's

p.s. I'm taking this way too seriously...honestly I think getting my 12 second slip is the largest source of stress in my life right now...I need to take it easy...hell, if I got my 12.xxx the first time out, maybe the challenge would be over and then what would I look forward to?

15psi is really low for the nitto dr's with your power level, i would have had them around 18.

the nitto's hook well, they just need to be baked like a mother effer to stick. the MT's work well with just a small'ish burnout.

^^^ actually I started last night at around 18 and wasn't having much luck so I went to 15...sunday I started at 32 (forgot to adjust down when I got there lol) and then tried 22, then 18 then 15...
...thanks for replying...maybe my problem is I haven't mastered the MT 2nd gear burnout yet (with 4.10s I guess it's a necessity)...I should be shifting into second when I'm still in the water box? Last night I kept powerbraking and letting off the gas and getting back on it, moving the car up until I was on a dry enough surface to smoke the tires, but I bogged and stalled after going to second. I've read to heat nittos at 50mph but first gear for me tops out at about 30mph.
...and for the mickeys, the proper warmup technique will be what I was doing ^^^? First gear, get out of the box and smoke em a bit? Thanks...same 18psi also?

are u gettin the mt et streets, or the mt et street radials? i have both. the radials just need a good 30mph burnout for like 5 seconds, and they hook pretty well.
but you really cant "drop the clutch" launch on 17inch drag radials, no matter how much you warm them up.

the best 60' i did with my nittos was 2.009 while i was n/a (v6 remember) and with the mt et street radials i went 1.898 (still n/a, not bad for a 6 lol). and with the et street biasply's i have gone 1.64 (turbocharged).

^^^ I'm getting the radials...the bias streets looked a bit scary for the highway and rain lol...
...30mph for 5 seconds eh? Good, even with my 4.10s I can accomplish that in first gear...
...thanks!

you need to be extremely cautious with the radials as well. I live in SoFla and with the rain down here it isn't uncommon to hear about a dozen guys putting their car into the wall on the highway or into a ditch because they were running drag radials in the rain. and DEFINITELY stay away from the ET Streets when it comes to daily driving. Those are for special occasions only.

The MT and the M&H are the only DR's worth a crap IMO.

I would like to give you one tip however and that is BE READY cause....

YOU ARE NEVER SATISFIED....period.

Once you get the 12.9x, you'll be happy for a minute, but then you'll soon be saying, "I just want to make a 12.50 and I'll be happy", etc. etc. It never ends, trust me.

When I originally started modding my car back in 05 - all I wanted was to run a 12.9x pass also. That's how it all started...LOL[sm=roll.gif]
