The FRC design that the C5 Z06has is most likely the lightest Corvette you will find. I think that the new LS3 Vette should be a drivers race with a C5 Z06 due to the gearing advantage in the C5. I am very excited about the aftermarket potential for the LS3 but the 113-115 mph traps are still short of the 115-118 traps in the C5 Z06. I think the LS3 needs a few more miles put on them.

My buddy just orgered an '08 Corvette (with new LS3). His is Automatic, with the slower gear (I think 2.56).
What will the Vette run in Auto, with this pathetic Gear?
Mid to low 12's and the first thing I would do is to add some DR's to it.

Mr. Rogers - Next year I plan on buying a 2003 Z06, do you think the new LS3 with help drive down the value of the C5 Z05? I am pretty hooked on getting a C5 Z06 & not a C6 mostly becuase I think the C5s look better. But you think the LS2s' & LS3s' aftermarkets will pass the LS6'?

Well as time goes on the value will go down regardless. But a used C5 Z06 is a huge performance bargain. I went 12.01 in mine with just a CAI kit. How many cars can do that? As far as the aftermarket is concerned, you can only do so much to the LSX engines. So the LS6 is covered for what ever way you want to go, Turbos, superchargers, Heads and Cam, nitrous, Bore, CAI and just about anything else you can think of. The LS3 and LS2 will catch up but it willtake a fewyears. The LS1, LS6 and LS2 have the same bore and are very similar. The LS3 and LS7 are a bit different.

I also love the C5 look better than the C6. I have yet to see a C6 that can IMHO compete with an all black C5 Coupe. They are beautiful. I was admiring one today. With no exposed headlights, they look amazing.
But I'd take a C6 were I able to justify it. I love all Vettes! Most especially C6 Z06s

C5 fan here as well. I don't like the exposed headlights either on the c6.

I saw an older lady mid 50's, maybe 60 getting into a black c5 at the grocery store last week. I said to her "Nice grocery getter!"She just smiled and said have a nice day. I don't think she understood what I was talking about.

I hate the side vents on the C5 and I love the front end of the C6. I also like the rear better on the C6. Again, that's just me. I was never a hardcore 'Vette enthusiest and when the C6 came out I fell in love. I really like that European look.
