Keep in mind the price difference... How much bank are you going to spend getting ahold of an Ls3 car.

Would seem better to compare the new Camaros to the Mustang instead of the new Vettes. No matter what, same model year, the vette will be faster than a Mustang GT. Just seems like the Mustang will need a blower/serious motor work to beat a Vette, of the same model year, so I don't see much use in trying to compare the two. [&:]

The vettes keep getting faster, and the stangs keep getting fatter[:@]. Ford needs to step up to the plate and give us a real engine in '09.
Soo true
Let's just pray they bring back the 302 or even a 329(New SVT Cobra, or a Mach 1?)

I'm not saying the mustang should compete with the vette. I'm just saying that Chevy keeps improving a car that is already an amazing performer for the price, while Ford sits idly by, waiting for the new camaro to come out and take away many potential sales of the mustang. I guarentee the base v8 camaro has more than 300 horses, and the top of the line will be somewhere around 400-450.

Theres no way. I saw the same thing on LS1tech a while back, but theres no way Chevy would be dumb enough to do that, they would lose all of their sales (if even it is priced less than 20k) just because the insurance would be ridiculous for a car that cheap.

But the Mustang has improved as well. Pretty damn quick for a new car under 25k, much faster than the last generation, the SN95 New Edge. They bumped power and torque, improved the tranny, added some pizzazzzzz, etc. It sucks the Mustang GT has always been trailing the F bodies in the power race, but eh at least Ford has the Shelby GT for now. When the Camaro/Challanger come out, it will be interesting to see what the Mustang will be like then.

All the whining about the new Vettes being so much faster..................give it up ppl For the extra dough it takes to drive one home, the Vette BETTER be faster than a Mustang GT..........by a large margin at that. When the next gen Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger arrive in the next year or two......then we can go about getting our panties in a bunch. Until then, lay off of the whole Vette vs. Stang argument.

If Ford wants to stay in it for the upcoming pony war, I say bring in a 5.0 DOHC for a new Boss 302.......and give us a big power NA 6+ liter OHV motor for the next Cobra.
