Default 1st gen Eclipse

What does a first gen Eclipse GSX typically run in the quarter? Is it true that they are very easy and cheap to mod? I was also wondering if stock for stock I could take one in my 98 GT.

yes yes yes yes yes..... anything else? First gens are much more reliable. Better platform, although not as good looking as second gen if you ask me. Not sure about 1/4 mile times, but im guessing ifs just as fast as youre 98 Gt, if not faster.

98 gt would put a hurt on it. The 1st gen Eclipse only has 195 hp, and an about equal curb weight to that of the 98 gt.

1st gen had the option of awd. the awd can be very bad ***. the 14b is a decent stock turbo on that car with free mods they can get low 14s high 13s. free mods=opening the air tract up to the intercooler, removing air silencer and box around filter, and removing boost restrictor. very very very easy to mod these cars

A 98 Gt weighs close to a 4 banger turbo? Why wouldnt the eclipse be lighter. Is the awd that heavy?

meh, i don't know how much they are. i just remember my friend buying a new one for his stealth awhile back for like $200 new. point is, they're cheap either way and will make you go bye bye bye.

ah ha! i was bored so i looked up prices. GREDDY PROFEC B 2 II BOOST CONTROLLER is about $300. so i was right! but you have the better idea. why the hell spend $300 when you can spend $50-$85.

i spent $400 on mine, a Power Enterprise boost controller and boost gauge all in one. The manuals are a lot better, they hold boost better and are more accurate.
You're right, boost controllers on turbo cars are the easiest and cheapest way to make them faster
