Congrats on the new best. I'd try a second gear burnout til you see smoke at the fenders then drop the emergancy break and roll forward hard. Try launching between 3500 and 4 grand. Nothing will break. I launch at 5500 on full race slicks and I've been running stock axles all year.
dude... mustangs are rear wheel drive.....

So I have a hypothetical question for you track guys. My honda comes with decent tires and 17" rims. Say I get a set of smaller rims(15" or 16") and some drag radials what can I expect. As a reference I ran a 15.3 with a 2.23 60' timewith a ****ty launch(first time trying to launch it). I forget the 1/8th mile time but the trap was 97.3mph. All bone stock trying for the first time to launch a FWD car.

P.S. I have been working on my launches.

My experience with DR's is they needed to break in a bit. After they broke in they got faster and more consistant.

Sinse my brain is firmly planted in Front wheel drive land right now LOL.I'll try your question sinse Im probably no help at all to the mustang guys[8D]I'll say you should run in the 14.8 or 14.9 range with just a tire swap. And I'd expect the first couple of runs to be 2.0 sixty ft. The 60 time should drop as the tires wear in. Ever consider 15 inch wheels and race slicks? It might be a little overkill for your current power level but there nice for future mods.

I was thinking about a set fot the track. I really don't want to start modding this car because I have Mach 1 plans, but if they ever fall through I see spray or a nice turbo in the future.

Why are you pulling so far out of the waterbox for your burnout? Put it in 2nd, pop the clutch hard and burn them mickeys until you start to acutally pull the RPM down (beacause the tires are starting to hook). Release the brake and let the car move forward while still burning out the tires so you make sure there is no water left on em. After your all the way out of the box just clutch it to stop the tire spin, and go.

You do not want to "clean off" the mickeys... you want to melt them until they start to pull the RPM down. Mine little 275s will even do this with 420 WHP if your doing a good 2nd gear burnout.

So far as the launch, I have had best results reving it up and basically just letting the clutch out REAL hard. It seems to give you better weight transfer if you let it out harder, throwing the front end up better.

You should be going WAY faster than 2.0's with MTs. It must just be bogging like crazy? If its bogging, the only real solution is more RPM at launch...which is where breakage comes in.

Or more tire pressure.
