first run on dr's
it was overall, a very humbling experience. first run, i was a complete space cadet. had the mickey's at 14.5, rolled through the water, wet the tires, spun them too much before the actual burnout and for some reason they just hooked and the whole car got 90 degrees, and i was facing the interior barrier. so i had a choice. let off the brake, shift it into neutral and get back onto the brake, or just let the car stall out and be safe. i chose the latter. went up to the line, brought the revs up to 3000, and let the clutch out without getting right on the gas. bogged like a mother, snapped my neck with the launch being much more violent than i'm used to. shifted hard, without worry of spin, ran a 13.686 @ 102.77 with a 2.097 60'
second run, decided i would just "heat and clean" the mickey's by giving them a quick spin. yea right. my "quick spin" rocketed the car forward with a little bit of spin. yea, i really tried to spin them. mother of god, these things hook. oh well, they were clean. launched a little higher, a little more aggressively,
pulled a 2.046 60' (meh) and went on to run a new best of 13.455 @ 104.09. oh well. a new best at least, but still abominable for a car with my mods.
third run: was scheduled to have a bye run, but got mistakenly lined up against another car. redlighted, 2.026 60', embarassing 13.604 @ 102.22.........i think i shifted into 4th on this one, big mistake.
fourth and final run: another space cadet, i launched harder, but still bogged, 2.00 60'. missed 2nd gear AHHHH

and ran an embarassing 14.021 @102.79.....this one knocked me out.what i learned: i need to learn more about how to use drag radials. i think i used too low of a PSI, they were doing nothing but hooking, and killing my trap speed. but for some reason i always bogged........am i not being aggressive enough? will i break something? why was my burnout so screwed up? what am i doing run? relatively speaking, i did a lot better on street tires.
im pretty dissapointed with my times, but theres always next time. i didn't have one clean run, there was at least one thing wrong with every one of my runs.
but, someone snapped this pic:
how about them apples haha. yes that's me.
I wet the tires with one spin in the water box, then brake stand burnout at 4000rpm until I see smoke on both sides of the car, then line up and launch with a quick slip of the clutch from 5000-5500rpm to pull consistent 1.75-1.85 60s...just for reference. You can get MUCH faster off the line than 2.0 with some practice!
Congrats on the new best. I'd try a second gear burnout til you see smoke at the fenders then drop the emergancy break and roll forward hard. Try launching between 3500 and 4 grand. Nothing will break. I launch at 5500 on full race slicks and I've been running stock axles all year.

Nice run. Your track picture looks really good. Just imagine if you even resized it properly!

Once you figure out how to launch it you should be doing well. And that is a pretty nice pic
