Bringing "Kill" to another level
Two of our local news stations did a story featuring my 89 LX and a program my wife and I started. I really need your feedback, I don't want this to be just another lecture of don'ts. I welcome all feedback, both good and bad. What would make you think twice, 4 real - No B.S'n?

In today's day and age no image displayed on a tv screen will stop the midnight street racing. Nor will it stop people from racing from a light.
You will need to be a role model, someone the teens look up to. You will need to appeal to their will to beat the rest, and have it in a written statement. A slip from the 1/8th mile or 1/4 mile will give them more bragging rights than an impromptu street race, which is always a story, with nothing to back up your win. And if they reply with: "I can have a friend sitting next to me taping me racing" tell them that extra body makes them slower, thus making them less of a racer.
The added bonus is that there will be no cops on that track, and you can legally reach speeds over 100mph (depending on your car naturally). And if you somehow do crash, there is help within that same 1/4 mile to do anything possible to save you... It's you and the driver next to you... no side streets, no animals or stupid people crossing while you blast down it at 100mph... It is nothing short of heaven... And for those 10 bucks (or whatever the cost to race at the track) nothing can beat it!

you can:
make any point you wish to.
show horrible pictures.
go to schools and talk.
tell people they will die, or what the cops will do when they are caught.
you may say you have done it before, and you regret it (even if you didnt do it)
point is... all this will be looked upon as an annoyance to youth... kids dont wanna hear it, and even if its made out to be "fun"... they will prolly think its stupid. this is just one of those phases some kids have to go through. and its not nice... but its the truth.
the only thing you can do is (like what was said) be a role model. that takes work tho, if you act to corny, it prolly wont work.
making youth do what you want isnt about helping them understand you, and your point. its about understanding them, and how they think/act. until you do that they wont lisen, nor care.
this is just my opinion...
when i was younger, what i never understood.... was when we had someone come in to talk to us. they made a big deal out of something the majority thought was cool at the time... saying it was bad. they basically branded what the kids liked as bad, then in corny "hey guys!" way showed their side as good... now in reality, they were right, but the people this was being shown to simply rolled their eyes, and it made them rebel more. sometimes i wonder if the older generation remembers what their youthful rebelious spirit was like, because if they did, they would realize to brand something, is just hurting their own cause.
not to be a big negitive person on this subject... i think its important people dont get into their cars after watching fast and furious, and run the risk of hitting me or others... its just hard to take something seen as cool, and show a rebelious natured group its actually bad, and have them take it seriously.
