well if it was a bill that actually passed in government, it'll become a law, and so it's pretty sure gonna happen
Its already a law that all cars should exceed 27mpg average... and the majority do not. Infact honda, toyota, hyundai, nissan, etc.. have all been producing cars that are less and less fuel efficient.. there isnt a single maker of cars that meets the requirement across the board.

This is just for show. The most that will come out of it is higher taxes unless they put some teeth into it.. and if they do that... then they can make a more efficient car. DOD technology would do wonders on the highway for a stang, and thats current technology already in use.

Whats worse is all light trucks are supposed to be at 20mpg... and the average is closer to 15... I would be more concerned about those than about sports cars.

C'mon. GM, Ford and DC already have more fuel efficient engines ready to go. There's an optimized Modular, LS-Series, and Hemi sitting in labs that get 40+ mpg and make over 500 horses. As the years go by, we just get gradually less crappy versions of them.

seriously in my mind all this means is buh bye excursions and rediculously HUGE suv's/trucks for the average people. They need to only sell these vehicles to people who need them and can prove they need them. I'm sick of seeing people with super-duties and one 2x4 in the bed. If you don't need that **** get something smaller. Btw if we make the switch to e85 with this, i wonder if they will rate it using actual gallons of GASOLINE used or e85, cause you need more e85 to equal the btu's of gasoline, which would **** this law up even more.

LOL, I agree with you 100%. How often do you see big Yukons and H2's with the only person in the car being the driver. Is that really necessary?

+1 on pushrods

+1 on retardedly large SUVswith nouseful purpose

One thing the new, higher CAFE might do, is force the engineers to get even more creative on coming up with ways to produce power with better mileage.

and thats out of one of th quicker production cars in the world..granted, its expensive, but it shows that it can be done..

amandas grandfather has a 300C, and he gets 35ish on the highway...not too bad considering that it is a low 14 second car...again, its not Z06, but it shows that you can have a strong engine and good mileage.
Not to spark another engine debate but...

They are both pushrods.
of course theyre pushrods...they make power without forced induction, dont they?

lol, that's great. There are higher powered cars that get good gas mileage. I always here of guys with f-bodies getting good gas mileage. Part of it is probably the higher gears and the 6speed. But, then again, they're also pushrods like the Vettes. Maybe Ford should try it. [:'(]lol

Dead-on w/ the whole SUV thing. There's not too many things in life that **** me off more than seeing some 30-something female swerving all over the highway because she's talking on the cell while driving her Cadillac Escalade ESV-XXXXXXL-RETARDEDLYF#CKINHUGE............ w/ none else in the vehicle........[sm=chairshot.gif][sm=dontgetit.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif][sm=lame.gif][sm=shootshoot.gif]
