Go with full bolt-ons,Drs,and a good tune. That should get you in the same ballpark as most stock LS1s. I'm not saying you'll be a LS1 killing machine, but you won't exactly be getting your *** handed to you either.

I dunno, my cousin has exhaust, intake, bored .20 over, with 4.10's and a Ford Racing clutch in his 96 Cobra, and he still can't beat LS1's. I think he needs the driver mod pretty bad though. His best 1/4 mile run is a 14.4. OUCH! It'd run that stock.

Wow, he needs some serious practice. He ought to be at least a mid 13.

Yeah, he has major traction problems (I'm guessing due to the 4.10's). And I heard that he missed 2nd gear every run at the track. I think maybe he should get a short shifter. Because I think he's just letting out on the clutch too soon

gears are your best friend when owning a 4v, wouldn't put you in LS territory but it's a good, cheap start

97 Cobras have 305 hp and 320lbs torque. They are 13.8 cars stock with tons of potential, meaning being a 4v, they respond very well to mods. 4.10s do wonders for 4vs as well. It really would'nt take as much as you think to get a 97 SVT to run with an LS1, or at least cause them to have to drive the hell out of their LS1 to stay out front.

With full boltons and a tune you will still be about 40rwhp below a stock ls1. I know because thats what my mustang did [&:] However, full boltons and tune GT + great driver vs ls1 mediocre driver i may give it to the GT. My worst runs NA when I was stock except for lid (not counting ones where I miss shifts or do something else retarded) was 13.5 @ 105, 2.2-2.3 60'. a boltons GT would have to pull a 1.8 or so to compete there, and wont trap that either way.
