who would win?
i'm not saying that 12's on an LS1 is out of the question but most likely a stock can do it if the driver is something special
now this is what i recall a 97 cobra owner saying dude you can never notice he said never beat LS1 with bolt ons hehe he went for a 347 now i say an instant solution is nitrous oxide but you'll need so much your block's internals will be in grave danger do the smart thing and if your gonna keep your stang go with a supercharger yes turbos will make you go faster but for a better feeling as a driver i say supercharge it
hehe god LS series engines are like a thorn in you Mustang owners side why don't you use their engines against them hehe

With full boltons and a tune you will still be about 40rwhp below a stock ls1. I know because thats what my mustang did [&:] However, full boltons and tune GT + great driver vs ls1 mediocre driver i may give it to the GT. My worst runs NA when I was stock except for lid (not counting ones where I miss shifts or do something else retarded) was 13.5 @ 105, 2.2-2.3 60'. a boltons GT would have to pull a 1.8 or so to compete there, and wont trap that either way.

Go with full bolt-ons,Drs,and a good tune. That should get you in the same ballpark as most stock LS1s. I'm not saying you'll be a LS1 killing machine, but you won't exactly be getting your *** handed to you either.

just a random thought, but the OP's cobra reminds me ofa LS1 just the way it's angled, if you'd take a real quick glance or something or just the way I'm looking at it

He doesn't have a GT though, he's got a 97 Cobra, 4v motor with 305hp stock. He is still going to be down on HP from an LS1, about 40rwhp like you said, but with with 4.10s and DRs, I think it would make up for thedifference in power. Still not saying that he'll bemurdering LS1s, but at least he'd be in thesameplaying field.

I don't think the gap is as big as some people are making it out to be. My best run when bone stock was 13.52, with an airbox lid was 13.38, and full exhaust = 13.16. I didn't get the time in my sig until I got sticky tires and colder weather.
Of course my configuration (stock-stalled auto, 2.73 gears) is the slowest for the LS1. The SS auto has 3.23 gears standard and the 6-speeds have 3.42s, along with less drivetrain loss. A manual can hit 13 flat on a regular basis; just ask S8ER01Z
Last AprilI ran a 97-ish (same body style anyway) Cobra vert and beat him by exactly 1 second, 13.26 @ 107 to his 14.26 @ 99. I did not yet have the Nittos.
