Default 4.0 vs rx8

So this guywants to race me at the local stripe. He drives a RX8 6spd and totally stock. I think their 234hp and 159lb torque? I have a MRT single, S&B intake, and a SCT 93 Octane tune and its a 5spd. Im a pretty good driver and i dont know about him. He "claims" he can beat GT's and that V6's arent real cars. What yall think?

at a drag strip, i think it might be realllll close cuz u have way more torque, and pretty similar hp.. ionno cuz RX8s are lighter

but at a track...You'd probably get raped. lol

Howeverrrrrrrr! don't quote me on this. I'm a complete newb and have absolutely no experience.[&:]

I think you will have him. I looked in to RX8's before I got the mustang....dont really like them. They handle GREAT but other then that, not that impressive. If you where racing on a road course then I would say he would win, but you should be able to get him on the strip. Run him and post up a video. What R/T do you run?

it's all about the torque. horsepower sells cars but torque wins races. I say call him out. With numbers like that he's got to be full of it. he may have beaten older '79-'83 gts that weren't running right but if he is bone stock you should walk away easily

You can take him. Is his can an auto or a manual? Because if it's an auto, he actually has somewhere around 220 hp

Its manual...6spd i believe

R/T? i guess that means race track cause im a noob lol. I run at No problem raceway. I have never ran in my 06 but i have in my 69 Mustang (Auto) and i have been there a few times for observations.

Any tips for a good launch in our cars? its a manual and i would like to get least amount ofwheel spin from the horrible stock tires lol. I hope to get new rims and tires soon!

r/t is reaction time and I'd suggest launching at less than 1800 rpm. expect a 60' time around 2.2 - 2.3 with stock BF Goodrich rubber and about a 9.6 to 9.7 1/8th mi. I'm guessing a 14.5 1/4th mi

I just researched it through car and driver and mazda's fan sight and it will only do 15.0 - 15.1 1/4th mi bone stock and with your mods I'd say you're no slower than 14.8 1/4th mi

yeah I thought i might have the edge over him since our torque is much greater than theirs, so we can get off the line and accelerate faster. I dont plan on running my car on a track with corning and stuff cause I would loose big time lol
