How do you all lanuch ourcars? I rev to about 2k and let the clucth out pretty quick but not dump, then feather the gas if the tires spin (is this correct?)I remember someone saying earlier to lanuch around 1800 rpm's. And do i slip clutch or what? I have never done a drag race in my 06 4.0 yet
I dunno about the other guys but I've noticed that I have a better '60 with very slight spin. Then again I don't have the pegleg anymore and never really tried to race when it was. As my car sits now (with DR's) I can rev almost to 2100 and bog slightly. For your car I'd go with the method you said while quickly slipping the clutch while slowly getting on the gas. Anywhere between 1800-2k should be fine just make sure you practice it.

It launches straight as an arrow on the slicks. It's the street tires that are scarry for some reason.

Hmm... maybe the design of the slicks allows for a more smooth and solid transfer of power to the ground?
Well, it sounded good anyway.

ricer drivers love to claim rediculous stock times
im not hating on mustangs, but...
lol how is an rx8 rice?
a civic with an ugly spoiler and big fat inefficient muffler is rice
(seriously, learn your terms before you use them)

if you took a 4.0 and an rx8 to a real race course (a track with turns), then the mustang will be raped.
Fist off a mazda is a ricer, any automobile/ motorcycle made by an asian manufacturer[is rice]hence the term "rice".

When speaking in forms of apersons/ attitude that can be rice or ricer.
There's more, but instead of tryin to rip on someone by telling them to learn their terms why dont you do the same.
It also depends where you use the terms, cuz if you go to a ricer forum they say ricer refers to someones attitude, they get pretty pissed if you call them ricer.
--------
BTW how is that guy in the RX8 claim he takes GTs? were they autos or something?

A friend of mine has an RX8 and we've gone at it a couple times. He's got the 6 speed manual, and for 1/4 miles I usually get a couple car lengths lead off the launch which I can usually hold on to if I don't screw up the shifts.

I wouldn't say it's an easy win, but if you don't mess up the launch and have a solid R/T and he's stock like he claims he is...well I'd be very surprised if he beat you. It'll most likely be a driver race as others have said, but your car has the capability to win if you preform correctly.

P.S. both my friend and my cars are dead stock.
