someone please explain!
Theafore metnioned 3.8 could probably dip into the 14's with a driver who is familar with the car. Cars with the Y87 packagae come with decent gearing, as well. 3.8 F-Bodies really aren't as slow as they are made out to be, the 3.8 is a solid motor.
The Cobra is new to you, you'll get better over time. Also really make sure it is running to full potential:
[ul][*]Clean MAF Senor[*]New Fuel Filter[*]Igition-Cap & Rotor, Plugs & Wires[*]All Oil/Fliuds[*]Tire Pressure[*]Air Filter[*]Check Timing[/ul]
SN-95 5.0's probably have one of the most restrictive factory exhaust systems. Full exhaust and gears alongwith a little practice, and youshould be dusting someLT1's.
Also, remove the rubber intake silencer, it is attached to openig of the air filter housing. What octane gas are you running? Cobras what premium.

Problem solved! i ran into him again tonight... raced him 3 times and wasted him... so either he was out of spray or i was really driving like crap (very possile)... as far as timing goes... I heard i can advance it... how far can i do it? im going to be doing everything for the tune up and 3.73's within the next 2 weeks.
Kool deal, I'm glad you took care of him. He had to of had some spray hidden somewhere last time. +1 on that restrictive exhaust, easy fix. You have a good motor to start modding, lots of potential there. I'm not very educated on how much timing you can stand, so I'll let somebody else answer that one.
Take the timing as high as it will let you go without the engine pinging. Every engine is different, some will take more timing, some will take less. Usually about 13-15 degrees is a sweet spot on 5.0's.
