Don't be the clueless guy that pulls in front of the staging sensors and doesn't realize it until some guy is pounding on his window telling him to move back...

Just try different techniques of launching when you are there.. I hold the revs at about 2500-3000 and feather the clutch a little off the line when on street tires.

Just have fun and don't have any expectations. Like anything else, practice makes you better and better. Take the first trip to the track as a 'feeling out' experience and just get to know your car.

Once you get hooked (You will...lol) ditch thos 20's for some DR's for the track and a whole nother' world will open up to you...

my 20s hooked fine even on the juice...
Hooking isn't the issue. It's the extra weight & rotational inertia thats your enemy with bigger wheels!

run with only about 1/4 of a tank, or 1/8 if you want. maybe even use a higher octane gas that they carry at the track

oh, and just have fun, dont worry about who your racing, just pretend its only you

Drag racing 101

Pre-stage lights(very top): when your front wheels break the beams, the light will come on. (STOP!!!!!) After lighting the top bulbs, wait for the other lane to do the same.

Stage lights(second set): roll forward slowly to get into the 'roll-out' portion of the beams. Once both sets of staging lights are lit, STOP!!!! and get ready. DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ROLL IN TOO FAR YOU WILL TURN OFF THE TOP PRE STAGE LIGHT. This is called "DEEP Staging, and is prefectly fine. STOP!!! Don't try to put the car in reverse and back up to relight both sets of staging bulbs. It will only make things more difficult, and I have seen guys get flustered when they are trying to back up and realize the 'ambers' are counting down and nail it with the car still in reverse. DOn;t ask, I've seen it dozens of times...

Anyway, Once the other lane lights both staging lights, the tree is now activated, and will start it's sequence...

3'Ambers' will countdown from top to bottom in .500/second intervals. When you see the bottom 'Amber' light up, NAIL IT!!!! If you see Green, you are way late... If you see red, you had a happy clutch foot.

Run it out the back door making as few shifts as possible. When you get close to the 'turn off' there's a "right-of-way" just like the street. I've seen some close call fender benders at the end of the track with both racers trying to make the turn at the same exact time. Just treat it like you're on the street when exiting.

HAVE FUN!!! You'll be hooked after a few passes.

Too many gear changes for the 1/4 unless you are running something like 4:10 gears.
