GTOs were meant to compete with Dodge Magnums (in my opinion). Look at the size of the car. They weren't designed to be real "performance" cars, just competitive with any other larger sedan, and I think it pulls THAT off well. Find me another full-size sedan with 4 doors that'll do a low 14 bone stock, or much better with tires that'll hook, and it gets much better from there.

Apples to Oranges comparison here.

O.K.

How is it not a "real" performance car?? Have you seen how they sit??? No need for a drop. A dodge magnum is a station wagon, the GTO is a coupe. 350 hp and a manual transmission and you think it's not a "real" performance car.

That is your opinion though.

You've made 34 posts over the one day your on these boards. Don't be a post *****.
thats a pretty ****ty thing to say. the guy has said over and over again that he is here to learn about the stangs, and has been pretty decent on any of his remarks.
a freakin 4000 pound car running 14's is not a real performance car. the 06's will be better though. i say go buy the acura RL 300hp awd if you want an oversized fast car. i really hope that chevy will bring back the maros and TA's.

I can't speak for the LS2 05 GTO's but I have seen the 04 LS1 GTO's and they have all been low 14's. I've Yet to see one break into the 13's. I am sure its been done, but its not a common occurance.

I don't want to start a pissing contest here but the GTOs are heavy, and it wasn't a stock camaro it was a formula with a little bit of work done to it. My idea of fast is not the same as it is to other people, and the GTO makes good power but when you add in a 3800lb car then the weight of a driver it needs more power to keep up. Go race one and you might see what I mean.

3700lbs + 355rwhp = decently fast.

Hell, the '05's even have a revamped suspension. I have yet to see one run, but on paper, it's fast.

I in no way think 13's are fast, nor 12's. Hell, 11's to me are just starting to get where you can beat most people. 12's here don't mean ****.

When you are talkin about LS1's and actual somewhat quick street cars, a 12 will get you in the door, but you will see alot of tail lights. If you have a relatively stock stang, well you can sit back and watch the big boys play.

im with him.. 12s dont mean ****.. sure i cant wait to run 12s but still, theres so many cars out there running 12s. to me 12.5 and under is a fast street car.. i mean even stock mustangs are "fast" .. but not fast.. lol, if u understadn what im saying. the time i raced a 88 stang and was beat by 20 car lengths.. well, THAT was fast.. when you race about half mile.. he gives u a headstart.. then all of a sudden u hear VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVROOOOM and a mustang BLOWS by you.. that was the best night of my life. im thinking 8 second street car it was... its hard to tell, but it smoked the **** outta me

It's the same where I am at, if you go to a meet around Chicago, 12's don't mean squat. Anybody who is willing to race around here WILL be mid to low 12's or better (unless it's sombody who just bought the car). You guys should really check out the Chicago street scene if you are every in the area.

I will agree with you there, atleast in Ok and Tx straight line speed cars rule the streets. If you have a 12 sec car and think your something special than it won't take long for someone to show you otherwise.
And yes on paper the 05 GTO's look alright, but I have yet to see it on the street.
