im not that impressed with the 350Z, i raced one a few months ago with my SHO and of course he beat me but only by about 1 1/2 cars, i though that woul destroy me worse than that

I my opinion gears are a waste of money. I had a 01 and put 3.73 in it. No change other than it would rev higher on the highway.

OP- Nice run. Sounds like an '07 up Z prolly. They sound mean stock, so he may have not had any mods. Either way, sounds like you had fun, and were cool about it.....
BTW- Gears and tune prolly still won't put you ahead of the '07+ Z's. The older ones for sure, though.....
And whoever said the new Z's put down 285whp- NO. It's more like 260-270whp.....

2007+ 350Z has a different engine.They are in the same class as the S197.
From a roll they may even have an edge (based on trap speeds).
A New Edge is going to need more than just gears and tune I believe.
Whats ittake to beat a S197? Based on my experience I would say Tune, Gears, Tires, CAI, and ORH.
A NE with those mods and a 120 lb lighter driver was 0.18 faster than me when I was stock.
