Default Mach 1 vs. 335i

Coming home from work todayI pass a new 2 door 335i. We start playing around for a bit and finally get a run in from 60. I pulled about1 1/2-2car lengths in 3rd and began to walk away slightly once in 4th gear. Those cars definetely have some power and are very clean looking. Wouldn't mind owning one

They are quick. Low 13's stock iirc. That little engine is insane though, peak torque is at like 2,000rpm!

The new 335's can be made very fast with just a tune. If I was in the market for a Bimmer, it would be a tough call between the M3 and the new 335. The M3 is a great road course car, but I have already have a car that is very capable on the track. I would be very temped to go with the 335 and get that tune from Dinan.

Stock the 335i looks to be a mid 13 second car: http://www.leftlanenews.com/real-wor...ile-times.html

New 335is are definitely quick, but definitely overrated for the money. Interiors are average (I dunno why I've been so hung up on interior quality lately... I think it's because so many cars overlook it) and exteriors are classy but plain. They're got *****; my buddy's wife has one and she's let me drive it several times. For $50,000 or whatever she paid though, I could think of a lot better ways to buy a quick / comfortable car[8D]

^ Yeah, that's the thing w/ BMW's. You can never find one remotely close to base price. They are all loaded up w/ stupid options that sends the price through the roof. And once you start checking option boxes, that value goes out the window real quick...

Bickety- I've always thought that myself. I'd personally prefer a new 335 over a new M3. Espec w/ the price difference....

OP- Nice run.....
