LS1 power
somebody explain to me why ford isn't allowed to supercharge the motor. I don't get it. everybody except for chevy has some sort of forced induction from the factory, except for... yes... HONDA!
I'm not sure why people whould have an issue with it. Chrysler uses it to give their Neon some *****, (I remember the GLH, fast for its day, but Turbo'd to get some *****) so does Suburu and Mistu but when Ford does not only is the car seriously fast, people mock it or claim Ford needs forced induction to go fast. Non-SC Mustang's like the Mach1 and others are plenty fast, fast enough for most but I guess they don't qualify for some reason.
The Mustang isn't in competition with the Civic, SR4, Evolution or STI, they might be on the street (except the Civic of course, 1 out of thousands doesn't a competition make)) but not in the eyes of any of the companies who produce them. Honda likes to use naturally aspirated engines, cool, nothing wrong with that. Ford chooses to SC cars that START OUT FAST to make them faster, nothing wrong with that either. Unless you're not the owner of one I guess, then it's hate time.

Yep, and they also have supercharged Pontiac's and Buick's as well, for quite some time now. Back in 1983 they Turbo'd the Regal and in '85 Buick created the Grand National, and in '86 they gave it an inter-cooler and I hear nobody ragging on GM because they decided to make a grocery getter into a hot rod.
I think it was a great idea, unfortunately GM kills great ideas, build it for a little while then when people really want it, stop making it.

DISCLAIMER: I am a die hard GM guy and I drive an LS1 Camaro every day.
That being said, the 03-04 Cobra is superior to any factory Camaro ever built. It just is.
Also, the Ford GT does outperform the C6 Z06. Factor in the price difference, however, and the bang-for-the-buck argument is a no-brainer.
BTW, my dad has one of those intercooled buick Grand Nationals and I can't believe they stopped making them. Some of the most impressive American cars ever.

My buddy still has his GNX, now that sucker could fly, no way GM told the truth when they released HP numbers.

^yeah true tommy...
but the 2002 z28/ss was not made to compete with a 2003/04 COBRA...
SO LETS KEEP APPLES WITH APPLES and ORANGES with ORANGES.
and to Nanaki... (no trouble) but to let you know a NEW 2004 GT when it came out was not $21,000.00
they are about the same price as the z28 ... about 23,000.00 or so.
and the z28 EATS the GT. hands down. nuff said.
yeah another great GM power is the GNX... amazing v6...amazing PERIOD.
FORD as not as "STRONG" as GM in power... lets all FACE IT>

Nobody disputes the GNX or the GN, they took a weak wristed POS 3.8 and turned it into a genuine hot rod, unfortunately GM doesn't know a good thing when they have it save the Corvette.
The one who has the "power" is the company still producing a viable product, GM has the Vette and the GTO, the Vette is great, no doubt about it, the GTO is selling even worse than the F-Body's did, how long before GM decides that should die as well. Having more HP doesn't make you the best deal in town...
^you do speak the truth on that subject.... Ford does know how to sell a car...
F-Body's will never catch the mustang in sales...
...and the GTO just sells NOTHING almost.
MUSTANG= king of sales for these type of cars.
however as far as power... no.
and MT Mustang? no....
especially and auto with a converter - cant be stopped!
and yeah an Lt1 will not eat them.
I am sayign lets keep oranges with oranges....
2002 BASE Mustang GT (MT or AUTO) vs 2002 BASE z28
Z28 wins. hands down... i dont think anyone will argue that point.
and everyone on this site... screams... "MANUAL TRANNY, MANUAL TRANNY" when half of the people cant even drive them "CORRECTLY/with skills"
also it gets kind of old the 03/04 Cobra owners thinking they are GODS.
DAN is about the only cool one I can think of off hand.
04 cobra runs high 12's stock.... (really most run like 13 flats) but lets say high 12's
02 z28-T/A-Firehawk-SS run low 13's stock...(most run around 13.2-13.4 or so)
the cobra has 80 more hosrsepower and and 50 more torque
^THESE ARE THE GM and FORD DRIVERS...that came up with these numbers.
and THEY WERE NOT EVEN MADE TO COMPETE!
02 Cobra, 02 GT not as great as a 02 ls1 car.
and the COBRA was made to compete with the GMs VETTE. not with the T/A's-z28s
a z28 stock is a 23k car. brand new when they came out.
a Cobra stock is a 39k car brand new when they came out.
MSRP was $39,240.00
So i mean lets keep things in perspective here.
