vs.

Back on topic: I have tried to tell a couple of Dodge people about the topic at hand, but of course they didn't believe me.

Saw a show where they took 5 or six engines from the 60's and put them on an engine dyno. Everything had to stock or as near stock as they could get (fabricate parts to original spec). They were all big block engines. I am terrible with remembering names, but I do remember that the Dodge Hemi they tested put out over 800 hp and the fly and the Ford 427 made 6 hundred something. I was blown away. Again, stock engines that were mass produced from the late 50's into the 60's. There were 2 entries from Chevy as I recall. Every engine tested made well over 400.

Dodge may not be the creator but they are the innovator.

They deserve credit

If they put that engine in a car withrespectable weight, the Hemis would rule the streets again.

lol.. I would have to agree that the Hemi crowd is obnoxious sometimes. But then, I saw a blown 70 Hemi Cuda rip a brand spankin new Ford GT a new a**hole too.. lol Guy then did the same thing to a 600 RWHP Porsche GT2.. lol Chrysler/Dodge might not be the originators, but I've yet to see a stock motor, aside from perhaps the friggin monster V-16 in the Veyron, that puts out 800+ HP. Hey don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of ford big blocks.. My Dad has a 74 Grand Torino, but really, has ford EVER put out an engine that can produce that kind of power? Only one I can think that even comes close is the 429 Super-Cobra Jet with the drag pack, but then I've been known to brain-fart from time to time.. lol

The new Hemi is not even really a hemi.
Technically they are because the chambers are hemispherical (even with the "squish pads")

that's the first word I ran into on this forum where I had a problem..... what is "innovator" ?

I'm foreign [&o]

if it has anything to do with creating a new concept in the design they diddn't innovate anything.... they just trademarked a name that people made a big deal about, that's it

LOL.. The SRT-8 300C's aren't that bad.. at least they look better than the new chargers.. [:'(][:'(] My GF talked me into test driving one of the SRT-8 chargers when I was home on leave, and they do have some slightly better than decent pick up to them, but they still handle like a friggin boat on wheels.. Might as well put the same engine in a 78 Galaxy 500 for chrissakes for all the good it did.. Only friggin mopar could take a legend like the Dodge charger of the 60's and 70's and turn into a friggin cigarette carton on wheels like that. It seriously looks like a two year old with those little plastic scissors folded a piece of paper up, cut out a few holes and came up with that design..

^ Not to ba an ***, but I'd take an SRT8's handling to an S197 GT's any day of the week. I think SRT8 cars handle pretty damn well, and I usually drive nimble, built-for-cornering kind of cars. Meh, to each their own, I guess.....
