It's got a HEMI!
You're probably right brudda.. but as I have yet to drive one of the S197's I can't comment on which I would take over which.. All I do know is I don't like the way the SRT-8's handle, though they could indeed be better than the 197's..
They're pretty impressive for a 4,200lb car, IMO. Especially considering it's domestic.
As for the S197's, they're really nuetral and relatively fail-proof, but there's not a lot of grip, feedback, precision, or directness. Kinda numb and uninvolving if you ask me, but they serve their pruporse well. ie- drag racing.....[&:]

Also probably true.. But then outside the FR-500 and the GT-R concepts and things of that nature Ford really has never been known for it's road handling abilities.. Only one I can think of is the '00 Cobra R, but then as you said, you're talking 3,200lbs vs. 4,200lbs.. That much weight difference will kill a skid pad.. You're right though, technically for a domestic it's half-way impressive.. I just like the older ones better.. LOL

that's the first word I ran into on this forum where I had a problem..... what is "innovator" ?
I'm foreign [&o]
if it has anything to do with creating a new concept in the design they diddn't innovate anything.... they just trademarked a name that people made a big deal about, that's it

Dodge may not be the creator but they are the innovator.
They deserve credit
If they put that engine in a car withrespectable weight, the Hemis would rule the streets again.

The Hemi was out long before Dodge, but now Hemi is synomonous with Dodge.

"let'scall it the rodpusher so teens would think it's awesome... better yet lets call it ramrod technology!"
Dodge utilizes hemishperical heads and people act like that makes it the greatest company ever...
it reminds me of a special ed kid tracinganormalkids artwork and the teacher coming over and going "A+ little johnny! you get a sticker!" and then all the other special ed kids (HEMI fanboys) go "YAAAAAAAY! I POOP!"
+1 on some of the Hemi croud being obnoxious. Hemi/pent roof heads have inherant advantages in breathing and combustion efficiency, and they made a big difference back in the day when head/cam design was pretty poor. Now with more modern inline valve head and cam profile designs, Hemi heads aren't as potent as they used to be in terms of performance, at least for the street. Look at the LS3 vs the Hemi, approx. the same displacement, and almost identical power, only the LS3 is doing it with much cheaper inline valve heads and a relatively mild cam. Now, talk about making power at 7K+ rpm and hemi/pent roof heads start showing their advantages.
Personally I think that with the capability of modern inline valve heads and roller cams, there's not much sense in putting the money into using hemi style heads in most cases.

just because they are using a brandnamefor a simple concept as a marketing strategydoesn't make them an innovator then.... GM uses pushrod technology, I don't think they sat down and had a meeting and said

Everyone in the automobile industry copies each other. It's just a matter of who can do it better. In this case Chrysler is the innovator of the Hemi.

IMO porsche has a MUCH better hemispherical platform.. observe
3.4L N/A H6
296BHP @ 258lbs tq
vs.
5.7L N/A V8
340BHP @ 390 lbs tq.
dodge needed more than two litres to make around 40 more BHP... not to mention the 8 year old porsche is still faster, I wouldn't call something like that innovative
DOHC > HEMI
2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi - 5.7L
345 HP
375 TQ
2007 Toyota Tundra DOHC - 5.7L
381 HP
401 TQ
I bet Dodge owners are saying, "Wish I could trade my 8 extra spark plugs in for valves now..."
