It's got a HEMI!
okay guys, BIIIG RANT TIME!!!!
around here there seems to be sooo many dodge fanboys talking up a HEMI... whether it be in a truck, in a charger, in a 300 or whatever... they are just like "OMG HEMI NEVAR LOSE BEST NAME EVER!!!"
lol, not quite
little do they know ford was pretty much the first american company to use a hemi motor and utilized it in the flathead powerplant as an aftermarket add on back in the 40's
and to the older gents you might remember a little 427 cammer being released by ford in the mid 60's?
this was also a "HEMI" motor
other car companies to utilize HEMI motors in their lineup?
BMW, Bristol, Peugeot,Alfa Romeo, Toyota, Aston Martin, Porsche, Jaguar, Mitsubishi etc etc etc
and also, dodge did not take any part in creating, designing or tweaking the HEMI design, and they weren't the company to start using it first... they just strapped on some hemispherical heads gave it a catchy name and rednecks flocked to something they had no idea what it even meant
ATTENTION: Hemispherical heads do not make your engine special! It's a stone age design that is VERY uneconomical
thank you, have a nice day
PS: sorry for the rant, just had to get that off my chest.... sooo many people around here talk about the HEMI like the name is supposed to give it 500BHP in itself... sick of it

HEMI is a Chrysler trademarked term. However it is far from a unique to Chrysler design.
Just like OHC, DOHC, and 4V designs theyareanything butnew. They are over 100 yearsold.
The first hemispherical cylinder heads Im aware of were used by the Belgian car maker Pipe in 1905.

Hemispherical cylinder heads have been used since at least 1903; they were used by the Belgian car maker Pipe in 1905[4]], the Peugeot Grand prix Car of 1912, the Alfa Romeo GP car of 1914, Daimler, and Riley. Stutz built four valve engines, conceptually anticipating modern car engines. The BMW double push rod design, taken over by Bristol Cars, the Peugeot 403 and the Toyota T engine are other well known hemi engines. Harry Arminius Miller racing engines were also a notable example[5].

The new Hemi is not even really a hemi. I know your ranting Morbid, but do you actually know how/why the older (ie real hemis) make power?

I usually hang out with more of the muscle car sceen and most of these cars would tear a part these new cars, even my GT for that matter, hands down. Hell my 65 would probably beat my 08. I don't hear about to many people onthis forumbeating a supercharged 69 camaro, or a 70 hemi cuda (not original of course). To me this would be something to brag about.

I agree with you on this one.
