One quick Jeep.
iunno my 96 cherokee sport with the inline 6is impressive off the line, itl 0-60 in like 8 seconds, laff. but really 4 of that 8 is 45-60. i beat up on civic's and accords all the time. but its still got nothing on my procharged gt. id like to build my jeeps engine.. talk about a sleeper.
edit: lol i do that same thing with my jeep and gt, and why not if u can?

The main reason the Jeep's inline 4.0 lurches off the line is because they hit their peak torque at 2k rpms. The reason for that is that it makes them excellent off-roaders, rock climbers, etc, without having to worry about stalling out, or riding the clutch and reving the whole time. In other words, you can take your Jeep on the trails and just idle thru the rough stuff rather effortlessly. I can't believe they stuck a 3.7 liter V6 in the new ones. The 3.7 is aimed at highway cruising, the powerband is way higher now.[:'(]
Yea an SRT8 would have smoked the OP if he took off in 2nd. I have an 05 Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi and it gets off the line very well. A friend of mine had the 4.7 HO in his and it was no contest, he might even chime in on this as he is a member here
