CTS-V not so impressive
Looks are subjective. I've driven both, and they are both great cars. The CTS-V is the definitely the sportier more hardcore of the two w/out question. The SRT-8 kinda falls short in the sport department. It's fast no doubt, but the tranny is kinda sluggish, it feels big and sometimes clumsy. They both have nice interiors, but the CTS's is just too gaudy for my tastes. The Cadillac is the better sportscar, the SRT-8 is the better cruiser. As much as it pains me to say this, if it were my money, I'd actually buy an SRT-8. I absolutely LOVE the Magnum version.
As for the new V, that thing decimates the SRT-8 lineup. It's gonna be a F'ing beast. W/ that LSA, it's gonna be just a pulley swap and tune away from 600+hp. I bet many a AMG Benz's, and M Bimmers see that thing's taillights....

Sorry, but I'd have to disagree w/ this. Any well-driven CTS-V should beat a stock S197 GT w/ no real trouble. Even from a dig. They've dipped into the 12's stock. And are usually 13.1-13.40's, w/ a considerably higher trap......

You'd beat him from a dig the way they are set-up, but from a roll he should've edged ahead slowly. Nice driving, those cars are on par with a S197 ET wise, give or take accordingly.

I know the CTS is a good bit quicker, that's why I said he should've pulled away, but I stand firm on my belief that the S197 will out launch it. Solid Axles are for the drag strip, IRS is for the course.

S197 GT < any year CTS-V... from any speed

and the CTS-V is lightyears beyond a 300 SRT8.. both in build quality and power
the new one is to have a supercharged 6.2L V8 and the interior quality is going to rival the best BMW and mercedes has to offer

^^ compare that to your S197 or a 300C... oh wait, you can't

I think the srt-8 is the best bang for the buck luxury performance car. Its nicer than the cts and its got a HEMI

I got one for ya. How do you do against C5 Corvettes? My dad has a 2000 auto convertible. I raced him from the dig last year. Both of us launched really well with me leaving the starting line a moment before he did. At 60mph, he had half a car on me.After mine shifted into 3d gear (66mph), it was all over, he walked me pretty hard. I shut down at about 80, there was no use going any further. lol
My car dyno'd 289wrhp & 304 ft pds.
