A manual allows you to be in the right spot SO much easier, though. That's what I love about it. No waiting, I get the gear I want when I want it. Once you learn how to launch and get the shift points down, it's cake. I'll NEVER have an automatic sportscar again, no doubt about it. If I were going to buy a Camaro or Trans Am, then yeah maybe, but otherwise no way......
automatics are beter daily drivers... espessially when you have to put up with detroit traffic, couple that with my infatuation the the dragstrip... a tuned and stalled auto with a set of DR'swould be the only way to go for myself, and also be faster than a pro driven manual

The cts coupe is GREAT looking like the 4 door but there auto tranny SUCKS and is abboying. And with 306hp it still goes no where and feels slower than an accord. LOVE the car but after being in my friends its not to good.

The new CTS is sexy. That Concept Coupe, not so much. The front looks great, but the rear is hideous.

S8ER01Z- Well, not necessarily stoplight brawls, but just straight line performance in general. And although they do alright in the curvy stuff, they're not up to par an S2K, 350Z, RX7, or the like. That's what I was referring to....

I doubt GT_Stang could pull off 13.5sec with that "bad ***" bodykit and those 20" rims.

The best i've ever gotten with my GT (on 20" American Racing Wheels) was 13.8, confirmed by a G-tech.I know theyare pretty inaccurate however my consistent runs average at 14 ~ 14.3. Which seem to be rightlooking at the added weight and comparing to other GT owners with the same anchors. All time worst runs were 14.3~14.7.

Like stated by others, you beat the driver, not the car. Either way, nice run.
If the CTS-V doesn't get you on the 1/4mile (which in 9 out of 10 situations it will).
It will get you in every other department (handling, luxury etc.)

Your car is at best a 13.5 in good conditions, that particular caddy is at best 13.2-13.3...stock that is.
True, I didnt even think about those add ons. I was thinking of a stock 05+ gt-auto without the saleen kit and bigger wheels...the weight and the wheels taking away alot of gear would def slow that auto down.

Well, I didn't mean the F-Body isn't a sportscar in a bad way, lol. I just meant they're more for straight-line stoplights brawls, and for that, I'd buy an auto and just stall it. But for a sportscar, only a manual will do. I've gotten to where I won't even buy an auto for the family DD, lol....[8D]
Actually... you will find the F-Body is far from great at straight-line stop light brawls...in fact in stock config we suck at that scenario and most smart f-body owners will avoid it... high speeds is where they truly shine and the don't do bad at all on an actual track.
I know I avoid the stoplight brawls. Mostly because of, I won't ever race in town again. And also, my extreme lack of traction. I tried some runs earlier, just from boredom and open country roads. I did some 15mph pulls and still spun through 2nd.The LS1's are the ones that shine at high speeds though. Us LT1 guys, love our low-end power, if we have the tires to use it.

I often forget that I had ported heads...my old LT1 would just spin and spin and spin from a light but I ran dead even (though lost by small amounts) with LS1 cars from dead digs/roll ons up into triple digits... It's probably why I think so highly of the lt1 still...the ported heads alone were a night and day mod.
