At what gear are you able to go full throttle?

You should also try to memorize what your car feels like as it nears redline, that way when you are accelerating for maximum performance, you do not need to have your eyes glued to the tach. Either that or get a shift light
Like 99GTVert said, the launching part just takes repitition and practice. Find a isolated road and practice (or go to the strip and practice there). I think the key to good acceleration and launch is to find that perfect balance of maximum acceleration and tire spin. You need to be right on the edge and it's car dependent. I have never driven a new Mustang, so no advice there. But in my STI, I just hammer the gas to the floor in every gear ( I slip it in first, but once I'm moving its pedal to the floor). In my Z06, I need to "squeeze" the gads pedal to the floor at a rate that allows me to accelerate quickly, but not spin the tires. Depending on road conditions I have to approach second gear the same way. It's a real pain in the *** and I am still learning.
Good luck and welcome!

But bottom line is that 1st and 2nd you have to pedal. I have had 3rd break loose too and at 90+ that really makes your a-hole pucker. Normally 3rd just makes the *** end dance around a little, if you know what I mean.

It's fun not knowing what the hell to expect out of a manual.
My GT was my first manual. I can remember being scared to drive past 4K cause I thought it was hard on the motor.
:-)
I also remember running consistent 15's the first time at the drag strip.. ahh.. those days...

My local strip:

I'm unfamiliar with the terms used.
What does this mean? What will it cost to take my car there and be able to run the strip?

You would want to look for the Test and Tune price. That's what I go to at the track around here. If you have never been to a drag strip, I suggest going there at least once to spectate and get an idea of how everything works before going there to race.
Mmmm...depending on how many people are there (with their car, aka racers). I guess it would mean unlimited runs until a given time, but most likely you won't be getting several passes/runs if there is a large amount of racers.

You were mentioning a 4k dump. They are fun and make lots of smoke. One thing to bear in mind is that our Stangs a rev limiter. It's not like the old days where rpms got out of hand quickly and blew the motor. The rpms on our stangs can get to red line very quickly in a tire spin situation, but the rev limiter will keep you from blowing your motor. It is pretty embarassing at the track though.....I speak from experience [&:]
