Thanks everyone.. It was fun. I hope I run into that guy again, or at least another one, when I have better tires.

I would not mind running an SL55, not an SL65 just yet.....

E55's are low 12's no prob, and dip into the 11's w/ good driver/weather combo. He really should've hung w/ you really well. I don't know why he didn't, but I'm just saying. I wouldn't expect a race w/ every '55' badged AMG to go like that if I were you.....

Oh, and those '65' cars are beasts man. 600+hp and 700+tq make for roll monsters....

I know. Plus, with good air, which it was awesome that day, I was probably putting down more then 11 PSI. So, I'd have more power and less weight. Either way, they are auto's, so from a roll, not really much room for driver error. If you know what I mean. Sl65's have hit low 11's stock I believe. But, dig's, they are a little slow off the line, roll racing, forget about, I'll wave the guy by....

good race man for sure. i agree that the outcome should have been different. not necessarily a loss for you, but closer. the one i raced wasnt stock, but he pulled on me really well. and my power numbers are right there with yours, and about 200lbs lighter.

good job man! even though you beat one, DO NOT underestimate those cars. those 1/4 mile times you look doesn't mean anything. I have seen them trapping like 120mph and running 11.9s on a 1/4 mile stock or at least they said stock.

mean machines for sure!!

I know. Here is what I have on the AMG.

469 HP and 516 TQ. they weigh around 4243 lbs without driver. So, approx 4400 lbs. I have approx. more whp then it does flywheel hp. Tq, I have approx. 450 tq, so it's got me there. But, their top end is limited, and therefor they do not pull as hard up top. Plus, my tune, S/C with better air = kill. I don't underestimate my car, in fact, people underestimate my car when looking at 1/4 mile times on other cars, and not mine since I don't have any. Thanks guys!!!!!

don't forget. power curve/band is what really important. just because you make more flywheel hp and a little less weight doesn't mean win.

my cobra had 455-478 which equals to almost 550hp and 570+ tq i guess and a heavier BMW M6 with more weight was on my *** the entire time because of their killer power curve.

HP per RPM (avarage power per RPM) & gearingis what really matters most of the time. plus from a roll weight difference does not really play a big role unless it is a big difference.

not saying you shouldn't have beat him. Your car is a beast for sure but IMO, an EE 55 AMG is well matched to your car![8D]

Nice kill. keep up the good work

I agree about the power curve. Once my car gets moving, the power just keeps increasing all the way to 7K RPM.

Also, They have 469 flywheel, my WHP is almost as much.

Keep in mind, Torque is what gets the car moving, and the HP keeps it moving. I know they are a good match, but with equal drivers, my car will win. Unless they are modded. Can't go wrong with an AMG engine. Now, let me put on stickier tires, take my passenger out, and then race one. I'll still put quite a few lengths on one.
