First race ever, i had just gotten my license a few months before in 2000...

1. My 1996 Cougar V8, full exhaust, CAI, MSD coils and wires, 3.27 gear,chip
2. A buddies mid 80's IROC with a 305.
3. He lost

First race in my GT...

1. She only had about 250 miles on her.
2. MY friends 02 GT with CAI, tune, Exhaust.
3. I had him by a car.

 

Me - 1984 Chevy Cavalier 4spd 4cylstation wagon that was an absolute beater! (got it for $300)
Vs
My buddies - 1984 or so Ford Mustang Auto 4cyl that was an old womans car.

We came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway (it's in the country and there were no cars that ever go on there) and start on a third honk. He pulled me by atleast 5 cars!

Definitely a blast.

Me - 1985 1/2 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z (painted chrome ford mustang yellow) 5spd
vs
1992 Ford Mustang GT.

From a light we both took off and my front end stayed directly at his front bumper. He was pissed he couldn't pull away from me.

 

ME: Dad's '84 Crown Vic
OPPONENT: My best friend in his '89 Mustang 4-cyl notchback
WHEN: 1993

I was 16, always got made fun of by my friends for driving dad's Crown Vic--but it was quick! 5.0 man!! (that's what I said back then).

I wasted that 88 horsepower Mustang!

 

First race was me in a 1970 El Camino happened in 1985
Buddy was in a 71 Mustang with a 351 cleveland
We went from a dig and I got walked. I got walked alot by mustangs back in the 80's so I went out and bought a 86 fox 5.0. If you cant beat em, join em.

Ran on a road that merged approx. 1 block from the intersection... I was ahead...but not a full length ahead at the end of the block and he never let off...I had to slam the brakes to avoid hitting a parked car and I guess I lost?

That was the last time I ran some ******* in conditions I didn't control. Now I end the race when I get ahead (even if it's inches) and I keep them short period. (unless on the track)... and thats when they happen... it's pretty rare for me since I don't go looking for them.

 

I'm too old to remember my 1st time (racing, that is!)

i came into this thread, seeing your name on the post, expecting some racing story from the good ol days in your classic!

 

I was in my 93 Intrepid, didnt know much about cars at the time, it was the spring of 01, i got abused by an 85 Crown Vic with straight pipes. We lined it up on the bypass at a stop light and all I saw was a black smoke. Looking back, I dont know whats worse, the fact i was driving an Intrepid, or the fact that I lost to an 85 Crown Vic.

 

My first race was in my dad'sContour SVT. Was versus a POS stock probe. I took the kid off the line and put about 4 car lengths on em up to around 80. Best part was it was on video camera, had about 4 different camera anglesand we used it in our video class. Kids in the classwere like "Whats that family sedan doing passing you ."

 

1976 when I was 16. Car was a 1970 Camaro SS 307 2bl. Place 39th street OKC. Opponent was a 1970s Cougar...the one with the sequentials. We ran light to light. Outcome.....dead even Oh me........32 years ago.....I really am an old fart [&:]
