Your first race
1) Me: 1996 Ford Windstar
2) Him: 96 or 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse (This happened back in 1997 sometime when I was in HS)
Went from a dig, and roll and beat the crap out of him both times. Those Windstars were pretty peppy, they even went off roading pretty nicely as well. I remember taking it out to Palm Springs with my Wife (then my g/f) taking it up some pretty gnarly stuff, a guy in a Dodge power wagon (70 something) all decked out, lifted, etc... had just came up a part we had just went up (we were parked and checking out trail that we just came up) and he was telling us we should turn back and not try to go down it cause he just barely made it up it, I told him we had just come UP it
Look on his face was priceless. FWD FTW.

[ol][*]In 1986, I had the 289 rebuilt in my '66 coupe (which I still have). This was before you could buy repro 271hp Hi-Poexhaust manifolds, so I found a boneyard pair of 351W manifolds on a '69 Stang. I had the heads P&P, so I ported the manifoldsmyself (note to all: wear safety goggles when grinding, not safety glasses - I had over 100 metal shavings in both eyes, which the surgeon removed by plucking them out with a syringe - OUCH! That night I didn't know if I'd see again or not, but my eyes healed.) Anywho, I would go to Cecil County forFriday street nights, and ran 15.0xx most of the time with my 2.80:1 open rear. Once I installed the 3.00:1 8" t-lok (removed it from a 70 Ford wagon), I hit 14.9's. Back then that was quick enough to beat alot of street cars.[*]Right after that, I rebuilt a roommate's '70 Mustang (originally with a 302/auto), but I installed a FE-series 390 big block (rebuilt it myself) with a 4 speed (kept the 8" open rear though). Once it was done, I raced a buddy's '70 Olds 442 with a 455/auto. While rowing through the gears, my hood opened up and folded back. No damage to the car - only the hood. But it was quite a scare. At least it gave me an excuse for losing (that 442 woulda beat me bad regardless!).[/ol]
That 442 earned a bunch of money street racing (it ran low 12's, btw, which was fast back then for most races)
my dad had a 64 vette that trapped in the 100-teens and ran low 13s, and at the time (mid to late 70s) he was one of the faster cars on the street...the guys who had REALLY fast cars rarely drove them on the streets by then, or so i understand..
are you still using that exhaust setup on your car?
of those of you who track race, do you recall your first ever run? i know that some of you have raced a ton, but ive made my fair share of passes in the last 13 years, but i still recall my first pass.

I stopped going to the track in the late 80's, and didn't return until I bought my first V6 S197. With just a tune, CAI, take-off muffler, I was running the same times as my '66!!! Cars are definitely quicker now!
The year 1978, the car, my dads 1975 455ciBuick Riviera, the challenger my buds 1968 GTO the place, Square Barn Road Lake In The Hills, IL, the time, about 11pm or so.
We lined up next to each other, his girlfriend dropped her arms and we took off, he beat me by half a car, not because the Riv was that fast, he was just bad at 4spd!
We used that road for racing for over a decade, now it's all built up and houses everywhere, back in the 70's it was all farms... my buddy has the sign from that road back when it was a great place to race and safe too.

1st Time at the Track
1. My dad's 1996 V6 Blazer rear drive
2. My friend's mid 90's Taurus
3. The very same day I passed my drivers testspring 05
4. I won by almost .5 sec. Man that Taurus was a turd lol
1st Time on the Street
1. My 1994 Sentra SER
2.A commonaquaintancein astock-ish Prelude and thought it was the fastest car that God himself granted to the planet Earth.
3. On the way to opening day at Norwalk, spring 2006.
4. I didn't want to completely waste my gas, so I started in 4th while he started in 3rd. I pulled very slightly until he had to shift, and then I simultaneously hit my real powerband. Left him behind like he was standing still. He later went on to run a 15.3 or something to my 14.5.
