Default GT verses Challenger...

Dodge is coming out with the R/T and the SRT/8 version. I've read about the HP/torque, anybody know the weight of the Challenger? How would it stand against a stock GT or a GT with a tune?

It's basically an srt8 charger with 2 doors and different sheet metal. 4100lbs is what i've heard.

With 33% higher volume of the 6.1L Hemi, I would hope the Challenger is a bit faster than out GT's even ifthe Challyweighs 500 pounds more. I personally don't like the looks of it as it resembles the C300/Charger too much in a bloated boring form.

Interesting observation. The Challenger doesn't share a single exterior dimension, panel or shape with the either the 300 or Charger.

On point we'll have to wait and see, but the current SRT8's give you a ballpark estimate as to how the Challenger will perfrom.

I am anxious to see how the 09's do. The R/T will have a 380hp 5.7 andwill have a manual option, and 3.91 LSD option along with the SRT8.

The Challenger is suppposed to weigh in the neighborhood of 4150lbs. The 6.1L Hemi in the SRT is rated at 425hp and 420 torque. The 5.7L Hemi in the R/T is rated at 350hp and 390 torque. I'm not sure how the Challenger will be, but I will give you my thoughts based on having previously owned both an R/T and SRT version of the Charger. The Charger weighs in within a few pounds of the Challenger (less than 10 lb difference FWIR).

The R/T Charger has a 0-60 right around 5.5 sec and the SRT will do 0-60 around 4.8 sec or so. A stock Mustang GT should beat a regular R/T version; however, versus the SRT it's going to be a driver's race. Also, the Charger had a 2.93 rear gear (vs. the base Mustang 3.31).

The Mustang wins hands-down in the looks, price, handling and fuel economy departments. I do have to give props to the Charger in the comfort and "family economy" departments tho.

No v6 model=low production+high demand=high prices...
I honestly don't think I'm going to see one any time soon on the streets unfortunately, though it would be a great competitor. At least Chrystler had the ***** to put into production at a decent time, unlike the camaro.

I agree, The Mustang is probably the best looking car on the market for the money.
