pulled upside looked like maybe 04-07 vette @ 60 mph dropped into 3rd and we both got on it, l stayed side by side with him all the way thru 3rd when we both shut down - he probably just couldn't drive right?

If was a C5 then this story is believable, C6..nah.

Maybe he started getting on it in a taller gear (4th/5th)....If I was doing 60, I would have hammered down into second....Would have easily another 2500rpms left in that gear.....and took off like a bullet....
