well to all of the unbelievers, u were not there. i have no reason to lie about this. like i said i thought i would be killed as well. i am not sure if he could not drive or if his car was a pos, it looked like it was in good shape. we went from 50 to about 100. i droped it in 2nd and killed his *** immediatly. i had him by at least 2.5 cars at the end. im tired of everyone speculating of what would happen when i just said what actually happened
didnt mean any disrespect, just saying a fully functional RX7 TT with a decent driver should have taken the race, at any rate congrats on the kill [sm=partyparty.gif]

not to call you out or say it did not happen I to own 2004 gt with gears and alot of mods. but a 1991 twin turbo rx7 has 215 hp stock and weighs in at 2800 pounds about 450 pds lighter.while the 1st turbo kicks in at 1500 rpm the second kicks in at 5,000 rpm and its a rotary engine they rev like crazy. I find it hard to believe that the rx7 lost from a roll at 50 or 70. you probably beat from a dig since they are slow from 0-60 with 6.3 seconds but after 5,000 rpms they are pretty fast unless it was not taken care of and some thing was rong with it. Don't get me wrong I hope you did kill it at a 50 or 70 roll. I'm just saying that they are faster at higher rpms. there stock 1/4 mile is around 14.9.

That's why anybody that knows what they're doing behind the wheel of a TT RX-7 usually drops the hammer at 4,500rpm's or better on a launch.. That's also assuming the stocker wasn't tuned.. A tuned stocker TT could very well beata stock 04 GT.If it'swell maintained, a91 TTshouldn't have all that many problems keeping up with and/or beatinga stock 04 GT assuming the driver knows how to stay in the powerband.. I have to admit though that a full bolt-on, PInew edge GT would have a slight edge.. Even then though, you'd have to have pretty damngood driver mod to lay the smack down on a stock TT RX-7 by anymore than a car or two.. And try about 3,450lbs vs 2,800lbs on the weight.. And that's without the drivers included.. So that makes for almost 600lbs of difference.. From a roll that wouldn't make such a big difference, but as guys have stated already, if the driver's in the right gear that 2nd turbo is already spooled.. just a thought..

You can't ignore the power to weight ratio for one & for two you can't ignore the aerodynamics. The tt rx7 is better on both.
I still believe the Mustang makes more torque/weight than the RX7, at a much better rpm. And we, well I, know torque is what it's all about. Aerodynamics....what are they racing to 180mph? How about hp/litre....we all know that's where the real winners are afterall.

255hp...
And a 14.9 is slow...
My little v6 could run that...

It's really wierd. Ford does own other brands though like Jag Land Rover and ect.
ford recently sold jaguar

Ok I just got this info.
255-hp, and 217 lbs/ft of torque
plus a curb weight of around 2500-2600lbs. So I call bs on your kill. Seeing as how your mustang weighs about what 3300-3450lbs?? with more torque which shouldn't have come into play on a roll race. I think right around the same HP too. I just don't understand???

Mark
unfortunately i would have to agree unless the engine in the mazda was starting to go (apex seals are notorious for failing in rotary type engines) or the driver of that car is absolutely horrid behind the wheel the win should have gone to the RX7
And land rover...

Thank God...

I don't really like the probe that much...
They are fun cars to drive. More so in the corner carving department though rather than straight line. They're awsome cars to take down some winding roads.

Definitely wouldn't replace the mustang with it though.

How would torque not help at any speed....? A new GT makes more power all the way across the board at any rpm...

As far as the kill of a tt rx7. That's very possible that it happened for several reasons. Take my best friends '91 mustang GT for example. It accelerates about as fast as most 4 cylinder cars... It's 100% stock with a stock aod & stock gearing. Not to mention it looks like whoever owned the car before hasn't ever popped the hood. Valve cover gaskets were hard as rocks & oil was leaking all over the engine in various spots. Hope that paints a picture
They're not exactly monsters from the factory in any case though, but they're decently quick.
Never driven one...
R they quick?
My bias is really unfounded...
Just don't really like the way they look...
lol

I dunno...
Doubt it...
The rx7 was last built in the late 90s right?
I'm pretty sure Ford's owned it longer than that....
To OP: Good kill...
I really like 7's but not douches that drive em and talk **** to mustang owners...
lol

FORD bought MAZDA in late 1989. The Ford Probe was the first Ford vehicle with a mazda engine when ford owned them if that makes any sense...lol Just because Ford bought them out, doesn't mean the Mazda engineers left. They still remained on Ford books.
89 huh?
Cool...
Didn't know that...
And yeah...
That makes sense for Ford to keep the original engineers...
It's simply something to rub in that guys face for bein an @ss...
I personally like Mazda...
lol
But like I said earlier...
I don't like douchebags...
lol

the last US model of the RX-7 was made in 96 I believe.. I know they continued Japanese production two or three years past that, though I don't know exactly when they stopped producing the RX-7 overseas.. I want to say spring maybe summer of 98.. Though you're right about late 80's production..
