Track run analysis request
So I've hit the local drag strip for 3 separate nights now to see what me/car can do and how much I enjoyed it....well I'm hooked and of course now I want to go faster. Out of the 3 nights I've done 35 runs in total so I've got a fair amount of data to analyze.
My times are all quite consistent with my best being a 13.617 and my worst being a 14.283 (with a passenger). My 60ft times are pretty dead on too the best barely getting under 2.0 and usually 2.0-2.1s.
What I notice when I race is that I seem to have more high end than anything. On my 13.6-13.8 runs my trap speed is always 105-108mph. I was looking through the timeslips posted on the forum here and noticed that for the most part everyone else in my time range is posting trap speeds significantly slower (~100mph).
So my question then is what could account for the difference? Could I be doing something better at the start that would improve early on? Is the high speed an indication of an improvement area (better shifting for example?)

Good question. All I can tell you is that my highest trap speed was on a lousy 60'.
60: 2.239
Trap: 124.33
60: 1.961
Trap: 122.76
Do S197's with your mods really only trap around 100? I thought it was more like 105ish.

its an odd quirk of drag racing a shorter 60' time = better ET but lower trap speed. If you really want to improve get a set of 17" rims with slicks or DRs and you'll better your 60' time by .2-.3 and be able to get low 13s IMO

It is most likley due to your elevation and the weather on that particular day/night. Cooler denser air will get higher traps (and lower ET's most of the time).
